First, let me say that I am neither familiar with Laurel K Hamilton and Anita Blake, nor have I ever experienced an audiobook or any other type outside traditional and kindle books. I bought this novella in spite of the negative reviews I saw because I have already read the rest of the IAD stories and am seriously contemplating spending $11.99 for the next installation (& outside of one really-the latest..Dreams of a Dark Warrior-I have truly enjoyed this addictive series), and I am glad I ignored those poor reviews. At the end of the day, it all comes down to taste. I love an excellent story ESPECIALLY if there's an erotica/romantica aspect involved, and while I think this is certainly the hottest thing I have read by Cole, there are others out there who blow her out of the water in that dept. Yes, it's hot compared to her full length stuff, but I liked that about it. It was a great change of pace (I know this was the first one, but since I read it last, it felt like a change, especially after the latest one which I gave only 2.5 stars-in my head). Yes, there is quite a bit of hotness in this one, but there is also a lot of story to go along with, including allusions to things in stories to follow. No, there aren't as many fight scenes and she doesn't drag out the sexual tension to the point of frustration as she has in many of her other books, but I think for a novella, she gave a perfect balance for my particular tastes. I really liked this one and decided to give a review since there seems to be a few bad ones based solely on the performances of the actors doing the reading rather than the actual story. I think it's kind of unfair to the author and to the story itself to judge it based on that. Plus, I believe it sort of pollutes the ratings.Read more ›

This novella makes for a great intro to the IAD series, which remains one of the best paranormal romance series published. Fluid writing makes for easy reading. The male is 100% Alpha male, and, therefore generally emotionally clueless. The heroine is daring, without inhibitions, and over-confident in her ability to manage the male--which leads to her delightful downfall. Cole rarely disappoints. Highly recommended.

Like many others I read this novella after already starting the series. I initially got hooked on A Hunger Like No Other, which once finished (in 2 days because I couldn't put it down) I took my happy ass right back to Barns & Noble and bought the entire series (up to Dreams of A Dark Warrior) and ordered the anthology Playing Easy To Get, that initially had this novella in it, online. Because I liked it so much and was lured by the extended excerpt of Lothaire (that I cannot wait for!) I bought it also on my Kindle. I love these stories so much I have a paperback version AND a Kindle version of each book.

Those who love the series will love The Warlord Wants Forever. So many things all tie into each book. Things that happen in A Hunger Like No Other (Lochlain & Emmaline) and Deep Kiss Of Winter (Murdoch & Daniella). Little things make more sense and the other half of things are shown just like in Deep Kiss Of Winter. I love Myst and Nikolai together and their story is wonderful. The field is the best part! (hehe!)

If you love this series you will not be disappointed!

***So I have to note, I did not listen to this as an audio book. I actually read the novella, so I have no opinion on the audio aspect of the story. I tend to steer away from audio just for this reason. I have a thing about voices, so if the voices are awful then I dont want to hear it. However, I am leaving my review here since the Kindle version is not out yet so it wont let me leave feedback there. And to be honest I didnt read any of the other stories in the anthology "Playing Easy to Get" so I didnt want to leave my feedback there. ***

From the beginning the battle between Myst and Nikolai is exciting. Myst is a not so mythical Valkyrie warrior also rumored to the most beautiful of her species. Nikolai is a former Estonian war lord turned Vampire. Nikolai is not seeking his "Bride" when he takes Myst captive. From the beginning he is intrigued by the beautiful valkyrie not knowing what she truly is, Myst plays with Nikolai seeking an end to her captivity. As it turns out Myst is Nikolai's "Bride" and she bloods him. Myst soon escapes from Nikolai leaving him in great agony. As mortal enemies Myst refuses to be a vampires "Bride" but 5 years later she is still thinking of her handsome warlord vampire.

After 5 years of searching for Myst, Nikolai finds her and again takes her captive. This is where the excitement really begins, Myst and Nikolai engage in a fierce battle of wills. Nikolai determined to extract his revenge as well as win his "Bride" and Myst just as determined to avoid being her enemies "Bride". He might not have a choice in the matter but she sure does!

Get ready for a roller coaster ride of clashing wills and sensuality as Kresely Cole lures you in to the Lore of mythical creatures that are not so mythical. As these two characters battle it out you find yourself engrossed to see who wins, you will be introduce to new and even more engaging battles of wit, lust and passion in the Immortals after Dark Series.

Kresley Cole is an extremely talented author. And the Immortals After Dark series is, as we except, awesome world building. Cole has created yet another popular series with extreme attention to detail and consistency.

This book is about the Valkyrie Myst the Coveted and her very sweet and lovable vampire warlord. To bad Myst is a confirmed man hater. She's is a little slow to realize how blessed she is with a husband like Nikolia. She's a bit hung up of the hates leeches/vampires; hates men; hates men who want to control (protect) her; is far more comfortable with sex than love, etc. etc. Frankly is sweet that her hubby wants to protect her but she seriously doesn't need it. The girls wicked dangerous.

It as very sweet romance. Not quit what I was expecting. But I enjoyed it.

Is this a new book?
Yes, this is technically a re-release. It is the first story in the Immortals After Dark series (if you're not familiar with the series, the 12th book - Lothaire - is the next to be released in one week). This is Myst and Nikolai's story which leads into the first full-length book (A Hunger Like... Read More
