8 of 10 people found the following review helpful By Gary Vogt on October 26, 2001
Format: Paperback
Ms Gateley seeks to redress the imbalance in our traditional Catholic / Christian view as God. The Judge, the stern Father, the remote.
She shows God's "warm, moist, salty" side, Her feminine side. (Doesn't the title evoke incredible memories of freshly baked bread being taken from the oven, its fragrance and tastes lingering in memory for years!)
The book is short and segmented. It can be taken in small easily digestable bites, or raced through with glee and delight.
If you want a different view, a different approach to God, if you wonder why God seems so far off and unattuned to your wavelength, give this book a chance. It's on my gift list.

I enjoy Edwina Gateley's poetry and have many of her books. What makes this book so very special is her story of meeting a Beudouin woman in the desert. The title is a delightful look at what is held inside.

I first read Edwina Gately's empowering book 15, maybe 20 years ago, and since then I've given away 27 of them. Through stories and poems, Gately gives humanity new ways to look at the soul and heart--even their slightly dirty undersides! I guess if I were to choose a favorite story, it would be "Where Are Martha's Shoes?" Read that and then I challenge all veteran Bible-readers to read the same old passages in the same old understanding!
