5.0 out of 5 stars Aaron Neville at his Best
Aaron Neville has been around a long time. This CD is an extraordinary creation, which combines some original songs and some classics. Produced by Linda Ronstadt and George Massengill, it offer lush, rich sounds which really do Warm Your Heart.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too warm and sweet
I hate to be the grinch who stole Christmas, but I feel I have to express a dissenting opinion from all the 5 star rave reviews that precede mine. Like I suspect a lot of people, I dug this CD out of my stacks after hearing and being moved by Neville's version of the Randy Newman song "Louisiana 1927" during the Hurricane Katrina relief drives. This is not a bad album by...

Aaron Neville has been around a long time. This CD is an extraordinary creation, which combines some original songs and some classics. Produced by Linda Ronstadt and George Massengill, it offer lush, rich sounds which really do Warm Your Heart.

Neville's voice is at it's best. Several songs include duet vocals with Linda Ronstadt or Rita Coolidge. Ry Cooder plays guitar on several tracks.

This was the first Aaron Neville album I purchased, after first becoming a fan of his from hearing him sing on one of Linda Ronstadt's albums that he did duets on. Since then, I've purchased many more and my family knows they can't go wrong buying me an Aaron Neville CD for a gift.

As I listen to this album, writing this review, I get chills. It is by far my favorite of all his albums. I even bought a back-up copy. Maybe it's the orchestration and production of Linda Ronstadt. Maybe he just found his peak performance mode when recording these songs.

Whatever it is, this CD is one I have listened to at least 50 times, and I expect it will continue to have its staying power for me.

By the way, one of the reasons I bought this CD was the title. I have lectured for over 15 years on heart warming and have written about it too. Check out my website in my about me section to find links. IN that research, I explored, using computerized psychophysiological monitoring devices how people respond to heartwarming memories and thoughts. While I have not put this CD to the test, I am sure it would produce similar results. It really does go deep.

This album has so much soul its not funny. It grabs at my emotions and never lets go. Everytime I hear "It feels like rain" I'm instantly taken back to a point in time I will never forget. This is real music. This is what makes memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful,poignant., September 3, 2005

I just saw Aaron Neville sing Lousiana 1927 for Hurricane Relief on MSNBC.It was as powerful performance as I have ever seen. His beautiful singing is UNFORCED and his musicality lifts a song to new height.I have owned this album since it came out in 91'.Neville covers some great songs on this album including ones written by Allen Toussaint, Burt Bacharach , John Hiatt, and Randy Newman(Lousiana 1927). The sound of this album is excellent with the best in the business supporting Neville including Ry Cooder, Larry Carlton, and LInda Ronstadt. The songs are given time to breathe and is not over produced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aaron Warms Your Heart, November 10, 2001

Aaron sings deep from his heart and soul in this listener's delight of an album. He bares his strong religious roots in "Ave Maria" and "I Bid You Goodnight" and in the album credits where he acknowledges God and St Jude. His rendition of "Louisiana 1927" brings tears to this old Louisiana native's eyes. Aaron supports his fabulous voice range with great background vocalists including an Episcopalian choir and Linda Rondstadt. "Angola Bound" carries the solemn message of a hopless inmate with a catchy rhythm that makes you want to play it again and again. To listen to Aaron is to like and love him and wish that he could sing at your next birthday party.

Louisiana and It Feels Like Rain are worth the price of the album alone. Haunting, the lyrics and Aarons voice stay with you long after it is played.

Maybe the best CD ever!!!! No need to talk about it....I adore this music. I would take this one if I went on Survivor and could only bring one CD.

This is one of my desert island CD's (you know, if you could only take 10 CD's on a desert island which would you take)I have owned it since its release and it never gets old. Aaron Neville's voice is like a cool breeze on a hot day. I especially enjoy Aaron's versions of Randy Newman's Louisiana 1927 and Jimmy Buffett's La Vie Dansant. However the crowning jewel is the Ave Maria - Aaron sings this beautiful prayer with his heart and soul. This CD is aptly titled - it certainly warms my heart each time I listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars The voice from heaven above, September 22, 2005
This review is from: Warm Your Heart (Audio CD)
Aaron Neville is one of the voices from heaven above. I first heard him at a Linda Ronstad album back in the late 80 ths.
His voice totally gripped me. Track 2 Everybody plays the fool, was the Neville hit who did it here in Norway. It`s difficult to describe, but his voice is a real "smoothie". Co producer on this album is Linda Ronstadt, and she and George Massenburg (producer) has done a tremendous job to build up a great "wall of sound" that fill you ear with "musical earbalsam". This is one of the albums that has a clear signature on it. There is no copycat here. This is i the real thing. This is Aaron Neville at his best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aaron's Best, August 18, 2005

Blessed with some of the most far-reaching pipes in pop song, Aaron Neville has made a habit of recasting other people's music so suavely, so svelt-like, it screens the sources, sometimes too sweetly for me. But there's enough brilliance, on this outing, to make it a worthy acquisition. It's advent coincided with the demise of the only male who thrilled me in much the same way: the Big O. Orbison's pitch was best on paranoia, running scared. Neville's gods are warmer, though his greatest moments give that thrill of leaning over the precipice. Linda Rondstandt's association with Neville was particularly profitable for both artists in the early 90s. Matching her voice to his, they arrive at a plateau of serenity not possible with his brothers. Her arrangement of Bacharach's,'Don't Go. Please Stay' is stunning - a taste of other music they'd do together. Toussaint's,'That's The Way She Loves' is also wrung for all its telling emotion. Van Dyke Parkes pulls out all stops on 'Louisianna, 1927' in a setting so lush that while mocking Randy Newman's deadpan voice, its adds a chill to this ominous tale. It's the final two tracks that are particularly compelling. Another Rondstadt arrangement with cohorts Cooder and Keltner augmenting a Bahamian gospel called,'I Bid You Goodnight', which my wife and I adapted as the farewell to our daughter at the close of each day of her first two years. Finally with Rondstandt again, there's the unparalled virtuosity of,'Ave Maria', a performance so resplendant I'm speechless before it. There's been an abiding spiritual content to Neville's work. Listeners attuned to that side of his expression might find joy in an EP produced in the mid 80s by Joel Dorn (who produced the brilliant David Forman solo in 1976) entitled,'Orchid In The Storm'.
