Book Description

1993
43 full color photographs, 6 U.S. Army technical drawings

This fourteenth installment in the WARMACHINES series is the third of the special 24 page mini-files which utilizes the comparatively few available photographs to document a worthy subject, in this case the 1/4 ton M151 Mutt. This book benefits the reader by providing detailed color photographs of the Mutt in field conditions, from the barracks parking lot, to deplaning from a C-130 Hercules, to undergoing an engine change, to serving with the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces). Many details are revealed in the photographs, including engine, radios, batteries, hard-top kits, soft tops, trailers, and more. This book is extremely useful to scale modelers wishing to improve the Tamiya and Academy kits, as well as to military enthusiasts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Photo Resource, December 11, 2002

This review is from: Warmachines No. 14 - 1/4 Ton M151 Mutt (Paperback)
There are many good photos for references. It's a short booklet (24 pages) so it's by no means an expansive historical narative. The vast majority of the photos seem to come from US Army European (go figure - Verlinden/Germany) but there are some references to other branches and uses as well that make this one a must for the MUTT fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new here, April 5, 2000

This review is from: Warmachines No. 14 - 1/4 Ton M151 Mutt (Paperback)
This book has no new photos, very weak descriptions of the M151 and it's variations. If you are a modeler interested in the IDF you might find the book of use in detailing models.
