Resource-Book for Modelers, April 1, 2000
This review is from: Warmachines No. 2 - M113/A2, M106 A1/A2, M577 A1/A2 (Paperback)
The M113 was and still is one of the workhorses of most NATO-armies. While the M2/M3 Bradley is replacing it as prime APC in the USA, it is still covering a lot of special and support duties, like Medevac or Recover and Repair. Those roles make the M113 very interesting for modelers.
This book is a very helpful resource when you are improving one of the normal M113 model-kits. The more then 90 photos (often a bit too small for my taste) and about 40 drawings cover all details and most important camouflages of the M113-A1 and A-2 and its derivates M 106 and M577. There are two books about the M113 in this series; this one is the first one. Of special interest are the detail-shoots of used tools. I'm currently trying to rebuild the scenery in which one of the photos was taken. It will not be the only book one needs to build a realistic diorama around a realistic M113, but it is of great help. For people more interested in military history I would recommend to look for a copy of the out-of-print book by Osprey. Both together form a perfect team for everyone.
