This book is probably one of the best guides I have ever seen for fine & costume jewelry. It can be used successfully by a beginning collector or the well seasoned collector as well. The photographs are stunning and add to the value of this research guide. The information regarding the different classes of items is extremely valuable. The book is interesting to read as well as use for reference. The author should be highly commended for this masterpiece. It will certainly become a favorite of mine in the years to come. It is hard to put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves jewelry.

What's not to love about this book? Kathy Flood has published yet another to die for book! If you love jewelry, you will love this book. This book will require you to spend time with it. All your senses will be alive, with anticipation of the next picture or the next page. Keep a handkerchief near to avoid drooling on the book. This is a quality publication, one you will want to own, one you will want to share and one you will want to buy as a gift for your friend. Pearls, Cameos, Art Deco, Plastics, Jelly Bellies, Figurals, Rhinestones, Silver, Beads, Couture and Diamonds; what more could a girl want? Your heart will pound, your palms will sweat, you will anticipate the next estate sale, yard sale, Antique Mall, and you will be thinking "Tally Ho" on with the hunt! Do not hesitate to buy this book, you will love it.

The author, Kathy Flood, hits the groung running in Warman's 4th Edition. If you want good information, without the drag of non-fiction, you'll love this book. The categories are summarized first, so those wanting to get right to their speciality may. If you are like me, and want to curl up with the afgan for a good read, Kathy is the Agatha Christie of jewelry. You get to meet a cast of characters, like "The Pearl Doctor", learn facts you never dreamed of, like jade is from Burma and uncover secret beauties like "the fireball" pearl. Take a trip around the world; the price is right and with the pace of her writing, Kathy will get you home by supper time.

I am very impressed with this book. Unlike many other books on collectible jewelry, this book has a wealth of information for the collector. In the past I have purchased similiar books which may have pretty pictures but the text is incorrect. I have been a costume jewelry collector for over 30 years and it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to books on the subject. Kathy Flood does an excellent job of researching her material. I particularly like her interviews with experts on many subjects. The pictures are also great and well worth looking at over and over.

This book is a fabulous resource and a great read as well. Amazing pictures are complemented by a wealth of information and a bit of humor. She really knows her stuff and it shows. This book is just one of Kathy Flood's reference guides that I use regularly and enjoy reading! Look no further, this is the book you want! You HAVE to add it to your personal library along with her Figurals book!

So, you've been warned.
These are the first words of Kathy Flood's latest book. I have all of her books, but she has out-done herself on this one. What a fabulous identification and price guide! With her background in writing, publishing, traveling, collecting, inspiring and researching, she has composed a reference volume which has no equal. Ms. Flood operates from a philosophy based on her years of education and study. She even speaks fluent French which has enabled her to interview and communicate with top people in the jewelry field. Kathy writes with goals in mind: to inform and, at the same time, to delight. Her concept of the four E's is her shared philosophy: Entertainment, Enlightenment, Edification and Enrichment. Besides being absolutely stunning, the book contains hundreds of gorgeous pictures of truly unique pieces. But best of all is Ms. Flood's gifted use of the English language, along with her sense of humor. The book has a presence with eighteen chapters of amazing variety, including a breath-taking section on diamonds. This exceptional volume contains other necessary information: glossary, shopping guides and biographies. Ms. Flood's writing is dynamic, impressive, innovative, charming and memorable. At times, I was amused at her sassy (maybe jazzy?) descriptions of jewels. Most of all, the new Warman's is just plain fun!

For the second year in a row, these Warman's guides by Kathy Flood have been a big birthday hit with my wife. Fantastic background into the pieces along with all pertinent information and beautiful pictures. My wife started getting into jewelry a few years ago but had expressed exasperation when trying to find good deals at antiques malls and garage sales. Rather than strike out on my own by buying a most likely overpriced birthday piece, I bought the costume jewelry figurals guide by the same author. My wife was delighted and I did the easy thing this most recent year and bought the broader and more comprehensive jewelry edition this year.

Same happy result and my wife has had a lot of fun hunting out the jewelry she likes from both books and knowing how much the pieces are worth.
