Warman's Watches Field Guide 2nd Edition, Lacking
on October 24, 2012
Nice photos of many watches, but I felt the book lacked coherency and organization. Many important brands were barely represented, such as Ulysse Nardin with 3 watches, or Zenith, with 2 watches. The section on Longines did not even mention the Ultra Chron, for many years their high beat flagship watch. On the other hand for some reason, Gruen had the most representation, with about 80, while Bulova, while represented with 15 watches, did not make it into the index.
Most watches had no reference to what years they were made, and the values given, while claimed to be from auctions (what, where?), seemed arbitrary and unreliable.
Overall, this book is OK as far as it goes, and it has some good photos, but is very short of useful information.
