5.0 out of 5 stars Poetry the way it should be written!!!! August 29, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I read this book when it was first released by Blue Mountain Press and was floored at Leonard Nimoy's profound grasp of language and poetic grace. I was tired of the lack of insight of the "modern poet" and the great loss of style. Poetry is not just words written on a page, where vulgarity is license- it is the essence of what we feel imparted through words, which if successful, the reader will feel, taste, and smell as the writer! Leonard Nimoy does this! He has grasped the essence of poetry, the true form of the "classics"

1.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the worst book of poetry ever... May 18, 2005
Format:Hardcover
I love this book. When I read it, I start giggling uncontrollably. This book is bad, but bad in a way that -- before I read it -- seemed impossible. The badness is transcendent in that as you read it you go through stages: disbelief, more disbelief, confusion, hilarity, and then finally a mystical place of joy in the fact that such a astoundingly bad book exists and can be purchased. I leave you with a quote to begin your journey:

Rocket ships

Are exciting

But so are roses

On a birthday

Computers are exciting

But so is a sunset

And logic

Will never replace

Love.

Sometimes I wonder

Where I belong

In the future

Or

In the past

I guess I'm just

An old-fashioned

Spaceman.

Wow, just Wow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Insight Into Leonard Nimoy the Man June 29, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
This book is part of my poetry collection. It is a collection of poems from several of Mr. Nimoy's books. It give us a insight into the complex and wonderfully sensitive man who made his biggest mark in Hollywood by playing a half human Mr. Spock who is not suppose to have any emotions. Mr. Nimoy give us a look into the real man, the man that his words exposes to our eyes is not wearing a mask, he is real, a warm generous man with a beauty of spirit rare in those who have gained great fame. His gifts to us are these words of love, wisdom, & courage. He is truely and outstanding actor, director, writer and photographer, but I think the man inside the poems is his greatest gift to us all. This book would make a wonderful addition to anyone's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Delightful Read November 23, 1997
Format:Hardcover
What a delight to read. There was so much emotion and strength in this book that it has been a treasured (and much read) addition to my library. It is one book that has appeal to both non-Trekers and Trekers alike. The message is so universal. The inspiration held within these pages is incredible. Much like the messages within Consillium and other works of Mr. Nimoy's, it is a guide to overcoming many of the the innumerable tests in life. A must read! Very uplifting!

5.0 out of 5 stars Leonard Nimoy is a TRUE POET not just an actor. April 12, 2008
Format:Hardcover
His poems are truly worth reading and rereading. He is truly a classic poet in my mind along Keats, Shelley. Time will tell but Leonard Nimoy is a truly gifted person.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gentle poems. Smart and fun to read. July 6, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I like the way Leonard Nimoy's mind works. These are poems that appear both cute and romantic, but they make you think. Every time I read one of his poems, I get a different impression of the meaning. I enjoy this book very much.
