This is a really sweet book about mom trying to warm up her little girl. I originally purchased it for a friend who is a single mom. The father is very prominent in the story, so I decided to keep it for our family. Other than that, it would make a wonderful gift for a new parent.

What a wonderful new children's book! Warmly written with charming illustrations. My daughter loves it and wants to read it every night, snuggled in bed! Great message for all families, but also for adoptive children, helps reinforce family unity.

great winter tale for children,
This review is from: The Warmest Place of All (Hardcover)
When you come in from being outside in the snow, where do you think is the warmest place of all? When Sophie's day of winter fun is over, she goes inside to get warm. Mama fixes her hot cocoa in the kitchen, gives her a hot bath in the tub, puts her in the comfy blue chair in the living room, brings her back into the kitchen for a steaming bowl of soup, and later puts her in bed under her comfy quilt. However, in each of those places the chill somehow seems to get to Sophie. Can you figure out what she finally finds is the warmest place of all?
As I write this review, the temperatures where I live are predicted to dip down into the teens and maybe even the single digits at night. You can well imagine that my family and I are also searching for the warmest place of all! The Warmest Place of All is a really cute book. Author Licia Rando, who has a Master of Education degree, says that when she homeschooled her oldest daughter, she taught many subjects with picture books. Her girls are now in college, but she uses this book to teach simile to second graders. There is a simile sheet on her website, and she plans on having cocoa recipes to reinforce fraction skills. Fun and educational at the same time--what more could you ask for in a children's book? |
