A nice warmer, but watch your electric bill!,

There's nothing nicer than a warm, dry, towel. And in the summer this heater keeps towels from getting musty so quickly. But, our electric bill went up $40 per month and we didn't know why....until we unplugged the towel warmer. Now we plug it in long enough to dry the towels, or to heat them while we shower. Then we turn it off again. Other than being an electricity hog, this is a great product, and we enjoy the feeling of being pampered and comforted with heated towels.

I live in Southern California and I really appreciate this unit. My husband and I had an apartment in Paris that had a great towel warmer. It's hard to describe the European warmer, but it had more surface area. My complaint with the few units I've seen here in the United States is that they have rungs instead of a tile-like surface heating area, and therefore aren't as efficient and don't do as good a job of heating/drying. However, given that the European units don't seem to be available here, this unit works well enough. We use it to warm/dry our towels, dry swimsuits, etc. without having to start up the clothes dryer. It's also very nice to have a warmish towel when you step out of the shower.

I've been using the Hyde Park Freestanding Towel Warmer and Drying Rack for about one month. It appears to be very well-built - it is sturdy and does not tip easily. Towels don't get nearly as warm as they would in a clothes dryer (a clothes dryer uses far more energy). However, it dries them thoroughly, allowing them to absorb more water far more quickly. I put a timer (about $10 at Lowes) on the receptacle, keeping the rack energized only a few hours before and after normal towel use times. This should minimize the impact on the electricity bill.

This product is sturdy and as attractive as you can expect a towel rack to be. The warming/drying feature is OK, but not a huge benefit in actual usage. Perhaps if you live in a perennially damp or cold environment, you may feel justified in using the heating element. The real disappointment I experienced was value of the product compared to its price. I definitely experienced "buyer's regret", and if returning it didn't involve reboxing, shipping, etc., I would.

Unlike the cheaper Heatra model, which I've discarded because
it was only luke warm, the Hyde Park is nice and hot.

This towel warmer heats up quickly. I find that if I lay the towel on it when I get into the shower, it's nice and toasty warm by the time I get out. If you have never had a warm towel waiting for you after a bath or shower- you don't know what you are missing!

very pleased with this purchase. the item was delivered promptly and arrived in great condition. the packaging and shipping carton more than protected the towel warmer/rack. very easy to assemble. the appearance is better in person than the internet image. unit is very sturdy. i'm more than satisfied with this purchase.

I previously owned another brand towel warmer but it broke after many years of use. I searched and searched to find a reasonably priced one to replace it. The Warmrails was the one i settled on and I couldnt be happier! It actually works much better than my previous one and heats the towels nicely. You dont realize how damp your towels really stay until you have to go without a towel warmer for several weeks! I would highly recommend this brand - its also attractive and adds something to the bathroom decor. And as a side note...the key to using a towel warmer is to LAYER the towels. This makes the towels much warmer.

We liked our Warmrails so well we bought this for our 4 kids. It's great because it's portable, but very stable, and we load 4 big towels on it after every bath. This is PLENTY big! It keeps the towels dry and fresh, extending their pre-washing life. We only turn it on to dry them out, so we cheat the boys out of the warmth, but someday they'll care enough to turn it on! We also keep it on a plug-in timer so it doesn't use an excessive amount of power. Great value, great product.

First of all, I have to say Amazon did a great job of shipping, I ordered it on Sept 6 and received on Sept 11.
Upon close examination of the product, I found some nicks of the top corners that the metallic surface was scrapped away and the dark material inside was showing. It was probably caused by the item moving around during transportation because it wasn't packed very well by the manufacturer (no foam or bubble wrap, it was just placed inside a large plastic bag). Also there are stickers on the heating rails that left a sticky residue behind after removal. We live in a city apartment that the windows and shades of the bathroom must be closed most of the time for security reason. That doesn't leave a lot of air circulation and wet towels create odor pretty quickly. This product seems to work well so far, it dries and warms the towels and the odor is gone. I would give Amazon 5 stars and Warmrails 3, average 4 stars. |
