Using less power than an average light bulb and considerably less power than a clothes dryer, the Filatherm element in this metal towel rack is designed to run continuously to keep towels dry and warm. After some minimal assembly, the Heatra Classic is ready to use in its freestanding position and plugs into any 120-volt outlet with a seven-foot cord. An on/off switch on the cord is illuminated for ease of use in the dark. Hardware is included for do-it-yourself wall-mounting; also, the UL/CUL-listed rack may be professionally hard-wired for use with a wall switch. The Heatra Classic's single-pipe construction, curved into four bends, adds a contemporary look to any bathroom.

There's nothing quite as luxurious as having a warm towel ready after a shower or bath. By drying towels more quickly than if they are left to air-dry, the rack helps eliminate mildew and dampness that can cause odors in the bathroom. Delicate undergarments and swimsuits can also be dried on the rack, which will not overheat and is not filled with leak-prone oil or liquids. Measuring 24 by 37-3/4 by 10-1/2 inches in its freestanding position, the rack is portable and easily moved from one bathroom to another. It's Filatherm dry element is reliable and energy efficient, using less power than your average light bulb. Really helps draw moisture away during the hot and humid months. Keeps your towels from smelling musty. Also helps eliminate mold and mildew growth. Quicker heat up time, more effective drying and no worrying about oils/liquids leaking from the unit. Great for drying delicates, hand washables, swimsuits and warming baby blankets and bedding. Product reaches optimum temperature within 30-40 minutes, but you need a good 2-3 hours for the heat to build up in the fibers of the towels. Recommend leaving towels on rack overnight before initial use. Make sure to layer your towels (do not weave throughout the bars). Remember this is a low energy device; your towels will be warm, dry and fresh for each use (towels will not be hot like coming out of a tumble dryer). Plugs into standard 110-120V outlet. I'd seen Warmrails in a store, and ended up at amazon looking for the cheapest model I could find. We had more towels than we had towel racks (a wife and three kids can do that to you), and my towel was rarely completely dry for my morning shower. I wanted, if nothing else, an extra free-standing towel rack to put it on to air dry. So I tried this.

It worked better than I expected. Not only is my towel dry each morning for my shower, but when we put two other towels on it after the kids have a bath, they're dry by morning as well! Three towels, folded (so there's a six-towel thickness) neatly over the top of the rack will dry just fine in just 8-12 hours -- and the innermost towel ends up nice and toasty warm (the outtermost will basically be room temperature, maybe just slightly warmer on the half that's closest to the rack, but all three will be completely dry).

Some reviewers were disappointed their towels weren't toasty-warm -- in that case, I'd suggest a higher-priced model with denser heating elements, or putting extra towels on top and using from the inside. The manual does point out that how well it works will vary according to where you put it in your home -- in particular they recommend against any drafty places. Ours is in the master bedroom, just outside the master bath, and even with a ceiling fan on at times, it seems to do just fine.

All in all, it's more expensive than a towel rod from the local home store, but you don't have to attach it to the wall (a plus for me, as I didn't know where I'd put it if it weren't free standing). It's also probably cheaper on the electric bill (and easier) than dropping towels in the dryer each day.

If you're looking for hot-out-of-the-dryer towels, you're not going to find it with this warmer. If you want a nice, warmed, dry towel on cool California winter mornings, than this is the towel warmer for you. I think mine is a good investment, it was easy to put together (I just screwed on the feet in about 5 minutes, but there's hardware included for mounting on the wall too), it's not very big or space-consuming, and it sure beats the still-damp towels I was dealing with. When I bought mine last week, it was only Twenty-nine ninety-nine, so it has gone up in price. Can't complain one iota, this is a nice, cheaply priced towel warmer. I use it to warm my bras and lingerie after rinsing them too!

ETA: It only lasted a year. The electrical connection to the unit frayed to the point of being a hazard, and could no longer be used.

I was very disappointed with the Warm Rails. The only thing that was warm was the 1 inch space of the towel on the top of the rail. I left it warming overnight, no improvement. I would not recomend this product to anyone who desires warm towels.
