Any study or appreciation of American folk music, particularly Appalachian music and its European roots, MUST include these recordings. I grew up around this music, and it's opened my ears to so much. Some of it is so innocent, so simple, that it's profound and haunting. Other selections are so funny that it proves mountain people were pretty wry and raucous! I love both volumes of these recordings.
