One of the foundations of the metal revival of the past ten years, Austin TX's The Sword have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness on Kemado Records, toured the world with Metallica, and were honored to grace the past three editions of Guitar Hero. This summer, the band casts its gaze to the stars for Warp Riders, their third full-length and their most ambitious effort to date. Hitting stores on August 24th via Kemado Records, it is the band's first concept album and is fittingly grand in scope both lyrically and in terms of musical craftsmanship.

I agree with everyone else who mentioned a certain word....epic.
I've been a fan of The Sword since I first heard 'Freya' on Guitar Hero and loved the song. I have thoroughly enjoyed their previous two releases but when I first heard Warp Riders, I was stunned. How can a band so young, be so freakin awesome? Hell if I know and don't really care. All I know is that after hearing this album many times already, The Sword have securely placed themselves in the upper tier of my favorite bands. I love the scifi concept to the album and the cover is so vintage it rocks. Love this album. Highly recommended. Solid 5 stars.

I've been listening to these guys since the first album, and I've been liking them more and more with each album. I gotta say, I was not a huge fan of Age of Winters - the sound was muddy, the songs were unoriginal and the vocals sucked. Nonetheless, there were some good grooves and riffs and I happily got their next one - Gods of the Earth. I thought it was an improvement, mostly better songs, but still with weak vocals. But Warp Riders... Wow this is much better! I was excited to hear Matt Bayles was producing, as he did a great job with Mastodon (Blood Mountain, Leviathan). As expected, the sound is much better, better separation of the guitars without losing any heaviness, but most importantly, the vocals are awesome! These songs are all really good - the whole album flows very seamlessly, and there are no weak tracks. That being said, some of the songs are a bit more "commercial" than their older stuff (Tres Brujas, Night City), but they are still pretty good with catchy riffs and great drums. This is very listenable - it's been in my car for about 6 weeks and I'm still playing it. Some people have mentioned a 'southern rock' feel - I'm not sure it's ZZ Top, but definitely more "rock" sounding than the other albums. I actually can see Phil Lynott(RIP) singing some of these songs, which I don't think I ever would have thought about an album from The Sword. Definitely worth getting.

Everybody needs some ass-kickin' air guitar moments, and this is a great one. Shades of Black
Sabbath, Monster Magnet, Helmet, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Valkyrie, Queens Of the Stone Age,
Dozer, etc.

Wow! So good
This is a great album, as good as any I think. For most people the sword is the best metal band they have never heard of.

What an album
This album is something else. I'm a child of the 90's but when I hear this record, I am immediately was taken back to the 70's, burning doobs and chasin' muff with my father.
