Hot Hunky Zodiac Warriors-a must read!, March 3, 2010
This review is from: Warrior Ascended: The Sons of the Zodiac (Mass Market Paperback)
Addison Fox has taken a new twist on paranormal romance with her debut book WARRIOR ASCENDED, the first in the SONS OF THE ZODIAC series. This is Fox's first book, but in it she does an excellent job setting up the premise of the series in which Themis, the divine goddess of law and order, exacts a bargain with Zeus to allow her so many warriors to protect the human world from Enyo the goddess of war.
Brody Talbot has been a Leo Warrior for Themis for thousands of years, but his latest battle with Enyo involves Ava Harrison, a mortal who may be the controller of the dark powers of the Egyptian Summoning Stones and the woman to fill his lonely heart.
Fox takes us into her world of imortal warriors to see not only their battle over evil, but the battle to claim what their hearts need most. The guys are hunky, alpha males who aren't afraid to get in each other's space if the situation calls for it. This is going to be the first of many GREAT reads by this brand new author.

Warrior Ascended, April 26, 2011
This review is from: Warrior Ascended: The Sons of the Zodiac (Mass Market Paperback)
Thousands of years ago the Goddess of Justice created a band of warriors called the Sons of the Zodiac. Each warrior has been gifted with special abilities pertaining to each zodiac sign. These men are charged with keeping evil from destroying humanity. One such warrior is Brody Talbot. Brody is a Leo warrior and his duty is to stop the Goddess of War from unleashing havoc and death. He must somehow keep the power of the Summoning Stones of Egypt contained and his only choice is to ask for help from the only person he knows of that can help - museum curator Ava Harrison.
Ava has taken her father's research and gotten the Summoning Stones of Egypt put on display at New York's Museum of Natural History. When an archeologist she doesn't know is brought to the museum to protect the stones, Ava is unsure of him and with good reason. It seems their attraction for each other is fiery enough to melt steel, but they have important things to do - like stopping the annihilation of mankind!
Warrior Ascended is more of an urban fantasy novel than a romance. The characters barely had chemistry in my opinion and that is something that I am not willing to sacrifice when reading. I have to have strong chemistry and a powerful connection between the hero and heroine and Warrior Ascended just didn't have that. Oh, it had bad guys and good guys and the fight of good versus evil. But having to read the world building and go through the entire book just isn't worth it. Ava's character is lukewarm at best and while Brody is one heck of a fine specimen, he can't carry the entire book.
If Urban Fantasy with tiny bits of romance blended into a story is what you like to read, then I highly suggest Warrior Ascended. I, however, have got to have my smoldering looks and erotic passion.
