The author says the book is Politically Incorrect and proud of it. He is not kidding. The book was written by a Marine for Marines and is not intended for those trying to be P.C. on a joint service tour. There are no long-winded essays here, just hundreds of stories, quotations, histories, slogans, and definitions. Part One enbraces Marine Corps history and life in the Corps, everything from Tun Tavern to The Marines' Hymn. Part Two offers Happy Hour fare for Marines, and it is broken down into Happy Hour Laws of Combat and Happy Hour Military Terms. Each section is further broken down for Infantry (The Magnificent Grunts) and for Aviation, with a special section for helicopters. About the Author

Marion Sturkey entered the Brotherhood of Marines in 1961. As the years passed, he discovered that no one ever truly leaves the Corps. He found that the title, U.S. Marine, is retained for a lifetime.

After authoring two non-military books, Marion published "BONNIE-SUE: A Marine Corps Helicopter Squadron in Vietnam" in 1996. Set against the backdrop of the turbulent 1960s, this saga of loyalty and brotherhood became a military classic. Often considered the definitive work on Marine Corps operations in Vietnam, it has been reprinted time after time. Today it remains a best seller in both print and audio-book formats.

Today, Marion's articles and book excerpts appear regularly in military magazines. He has been featured in a T.V. documentary about Marines in Vietnam. Also, he is a frequent speaker at Marine Corps bases and at other military functions. "Warrior Culture of the U.S. Marines" is his fourth book.

My parents, friends and girlfriend could never understand my so called obsession with the Corps..from the stickers on my car, to my reading material and even my apparel. To truely understand a Marine, you must be one. This book, however, does a great job explaining to the non-initiated. The book can sometimes be repetative and the constant references to the "Diety" (cant you just say God?) can be annoying, but, overall this was a motivating and refreshing look at my beloved Corps. It breaks everything down from the history, customs and mentality of the Marines. For the person in your life that just does'nt get it, or for Motivating yourself, this is a darn good read.

Marines and those who are intrigued by Marines will be reading this. The book describes the Marines as the "brotherhood", to which I have nothing but agreement, yet although there are centuries of traditions (blood stripe from the battle that Marines lost 68+% of their men etc, ) the current day gunk that keeps Marines together is their ballsy "I'll do you one better" attitude and the way the peacetime sweating helps them prevent bleeding in war. I've mentioned it before, yet it must be mentioned here...the true look comes from one author...P.Chadz with his collection of "in your face memoirs" that show actually what the modern day Marines do on training and liberty to keep their tribe the finest brotherhood in all the services. Let these stories be a harboring area where your mind is allowed to go back to and understand that these ideas and principles probably got most young boys to enlist, yet the book from CHADZ is the stories that makes them become a brotherhood, and these types of stories keep repeating themselves, each day a new generation walks across the bases of Pendleton, Lejuene and beyound.
