Magical listening,

I have yet to find a Mirabal piece I don't love. At work I can listen to instrumental music and Warrior Magician is one my co-workers and I listen to over and over. The tunes run from bold to haunting with the lilt of the flute providing a counter point.

go for other Mirabal,

This album sees Mirabal slipping painfully into new age. It's no good, with too much synthetic material...if you're into his flute playing go for Song Carrier or Native Suite.

Haunting, soulful flute playing. Robert is truly a medicine man and will touch your heart and soul with his music.

Another excellent CD by The Master Flutist Mirabal! I enjoyed every track and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Native Sounds and Flute.<>DragonFly<>

decent new-age; NOT Native American,
This review is from: Warrior Magician (Audio CD)
Interesting compositions, but I would personally not call them Native American (perhaps Native influenced). "Carrying Native music in it's arms while walking into the future"? Give me a break! I see Native Music AS the future! It doesn't **need** new-age permutations. BUT, if you really go for contemporary Native sounds I recommend R. Carlos Nakai or Robert Tree Cody. If you prefer traditional, try either of the two above or Paul Zimmer. Or attend a pow-wow in your area, many fine "unknown" artists play pow-wows and sell privately released tapes and CDs.
