Fascinating!,
By
This review is from: Warriors Box Set: Volumes 1 to 3 (Paperback)
My little brother is a fan of this series and he asked for these books for Christmas. I borrowed them from him and read all three in the three days after Christmas! I could not put them down! Even though they are written for kids, they are well written and I would recommend them to any adult who enjoys fantasy fiction. Of course real cats do not live in clans with a clan leader and deputy, do not have medicine cats who treat wounds by chewing up herbs and spitting them in wounds, bandaging them with spiderweb, and communicating with a mystical "starclan" of departed ancestors... but that's why it's called fantasy!
For anyone getting it for young children, do be aware that the authors (and Erin Hunter is a penname for a writing team of two women)are mystical/newagey in their personal beliefs, interested in astrology and standing stones and so forth, and that certainly does come out in their writing. Also, there is some violence, in the form of vivid descriptions of battles between the cats, during which some cats are killed. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series!

If my 8 year old daughter could give this series 100 stars she would. She loves the excitement, adventure and drama of these books. This is the first time I've ever seen her read a book and start to cry over what she was reading -- She really gets into the story.
My complaint about this series is that Accelerated Reader has not picked it up yet, so she has to stop reading it to read AR books so she can meet her AR goal each quarter in school. It's always a fight to get her to read something else when she's in the middle of a "Warrior Cat" book.

Not your everday Kittypet,
By
This review is from: Warriors Box Set: Volumes 1 to 3 (Paperback)
I love these first three books and the three that follow it. Rusty/Fireheart is house cat that gets the chance to live amoung the wild cats in the forest just outside his owners garden. But not everyone in the clan he joins is happy to see a Kittypet join them. This seris reminds you that even though we all look the same we are not all from the same path. Soon Fireheart finds himself protecting his clan and leader from a traitor within. You will never look at your kitty (or in my case kitties) the same way again.

I originally bought these books for a niece and began reading book one out of boredom. I was immediately drawn in to a fantastic world that was spiritual, traditional, and pushed the concept of diversity in a different way. I enjoyed the world that was created with it's light and dark depictions. It teaches young children about resiliency, optimism, and acceptance of those who are different from yourself. The Warrior books link into on long story, that climaxes in book six with an agonizing but satisfying ending. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book for young readers, as well as, the young at heart.

Great books series!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Warriors Box Set: Volumes 1 to 3 (Paperback)
These books are great for girls and boys of all ages. I'm 13 and I love these books. My friend (who introduced me to it) loves it and her little brother loves the books too. These books are full of adventure, excitement and humor. It's really fun to read the books, although not so fun to have to wait for the next one to come out!I suggest these books for anyone from ages 8+, because there is some parts that are a little scary (and a little gory) and the language is more advanced, but no bad words are ever used.

Warriors,

This review is from: Warriors Box Set: Volumes 1 to 3 (Paperback)
"Today is a good day to die, but tomorrow is better. Unless, those doing the dying are six foot, mutated chipmunks with blaster rifles. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I should start at the beginning. If you ask me, the end makes a fine beginning. Things come together and things fall apart, and the fur flies a little easier with the help of a Rolling Thunderä shotgun, as long as that fur isn't mine, and I'm the one pulling the trigger. Yep, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, but I ain't Mr. Rogers."
"But, I should introduce myself, you can call me Ishmael. Just kidding, bit of classical allusion there. Call me Hobo, warrior, poet, and one fine-looking feline, that's me. See, all cats are warriors, at least at heart, and that's why I'm the best one to introduce the series, Warriors." Warriors is a book series first published in 2003 by Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry, under the pen name Erin Hunter, and introduced to me by cat and book lover Billy Waltz. The second series was written under the title Warriors: The New Prophecy. The third series, The Power of Three, and two more books, Firestar's Quest and Secrets of the Clans, are coming in 2007. The series starts off with Into the Wild and a young "kitty pet"(house cat) name Rusty who yearns for adventure and has vivid dreams of the wilds. He meets a young feral cat, and this meeting leads to a chance to join a clan of wild cats called Thunderclan. He's renamed Firepaw and becomes an apprentice warrior. He finds himself in the middle of a tribal war with three other clans who coexist and compete for food and resources. Allegiances are constantly shifting among the clans of warrior cats that roam the forest. With tensions so delicately balanced, former friends can become enemies overnight, and some cats are willing to kill to get what they want. Our young protagonist quickly moves from apprentice to warrior, to second-in-command, to leader of his clan. He must learn wisdom, deal with betrayal, and ultimately save his clan and the forest way of life. The author has created an intriguing world with an intricate structure and mythology. There is intrigue, themes of loyalty, friendship and death, and an engaging young hero. The difficult life of a feral cat is described in some detail. (Oct. 16 is national feral cat day. Check out www.nationalferalcatday.org ) The cats, anthropomorphism aside, are true to their feline nature, which should delight cat and animal lovers alike. There is some violence. Some characters are killed through fighting and natural disasters, and there is treachery, betrayal and traitors, and even murder among the cats and clans, though it is crucial to the plot and not excessive. Overall, I believe readers will find a fun-to-read series of books. Though not as elegantly written as Brian Jacques' Redwall series. The superb storytelling drew me into a realm so vivid that it could almost be real and I really came to care about the characters I found myself staying up late, with the old flashlight under the cover trick, to finish the books, and that Sand Storm sounds like a babe. Wonder what she's doing Saturday night? Hey, this cat is a fighter and a lover.... Author of "Hobo Finds A Home" editor "Of A Predatory Heart"

DO YOU LOVE CATS? DO YOU LOVE ROMANCE,MYSTERY AND BATTLE? THAN READ THIS BOOK REVIEW!
Join Rusty, a normal pet cat, who is destined for more than dry pellets for food and a stuffy house for shelter. He lives next to the forest and ventures out. The expedition ends with Rusty meeting forest cats- Graypaw, Lionheart and Bluestar. He decides to leave his humans and live out in the forest, where you will never know when your next meal will be. It turns out that there are four groups of cats, which are called Clans: Thunderclan, the cats Rusty runs into, Windclan, Riverclan and Shadowclan. All these cats follow ( or brake ) the laws their cat ancestors, or Starclan, laid out for them. Rusty recieves his apprentice name ( an apprentice is a cat training to be a warrior, the fully trained cat ) Firepaw, and makes friends with the friendly Graypaw and the quiet Ravenpaw. But the forest holds much more than battles and friends- Ravenpaw claims he saw Tigerclaw, the Clan deputy,( the deputy is the cat second in charge in a Clan ) murder the former Clan deputy, Redtail. Firepaw vowes to unbury the truth in this claim. In the next books, friends are made, loyalty is tested, forbidden love is formed, and Firepaw is puzzled by the strange phrophecy that Starclan laid out for him. I absolutely LOVE these books- my advise? BUY THEM ALL! But be warned: they contain very sad parts. I hope this review helped! Sincerely, Moonwhisker

Great First Series,
By
This review is from: Warriors Box Set: Volumes 1 to 3 (Paperback)
For those interested in the warriors series, these books are the best of Erin Hunter's work. Her first series are exciting, fun and a great adventure to enjoy. It is a unique, amazing world of wild cats that will be hard to put down. Hunter does a very good job with these. However, after the exciting first books, it never gets better, only worse. The second series is a very dull and hard to get through, and it gets worse. But these books are very good!

My Daughter Loves These Books,
By
This review is from: Warriors Box Set: Volumes 1 to 3 (Paperback)
My 8 year old daughter just loves these books. She discovered them in her school library and would check out as many as she could. She would sit and read these for up to 6 hours a day, which I would rather her be doing than spending that much time on her video games. Luckily her school does have the AR tests for them and I found out that they are 5th and 6th grade level books with an AR point value of 10-12 each! My daughter has now read all the books in this series that the school library has and had to find some other books to read now, but she is looking forward to the new releases of the Warriors books when they come out!

Warriors 3 book collection,
This review is from: Warriors Box Set: Volumes 1 to 3 (Paperback)
I ordered these books for my 11 year old son. He is really getting into reading after he got one of the books from the library from his school. Anytime my child gets interested in reading a particular book, I try to encourage him and try to find more books by the same author. Luckily, there are 6 books in the series and I have already ordered the next 3 book series from amazon.
