From the Back Cover

"To survive, you must grow and spread like the Blazing Star."'

In the aftermath of the first great battle, the grounds of the four trees have been stained with blood and every cat has lost denmates and kin. Now, guided by the spirits of the fallen, the cats from the mountains must figure out how to move on.

Though each group has sworn to a truce, simply keeping the peace may not guarantee their survival. Having lost Turtle Tail and given up his role as leader to Thunder, Gray Wing is no longer sure where he belongs. Clear Sky is losing his grip on the forest cats to a dangerous one-eyed rogue. And worst of all, a mysterious, deadly disease threatens to strike deep into the heart of both camps—keeping tensions simmering close to the surface. Only one thing can save them: they must seek the Blazing Star. . . .

After the First Battle, I was expecting that a lot of sad things were going to not happen for a while. That was not the case. After a particularly sad death in the 3rd book, I thought maybe the Erin's would be nicer to their cats. Nope. The Blazing Star continues after the battle that claimed so many of the cats and Starclan proposes that they must live by codes to guarantee their survival.

Just as hope sets in for a future, a disease sweeps over the cats and many lives are taken over the course of the book. This book is a sad and depressing one, with little hope in store unless the cats can find the "Blazing Star." But what is that?

If you enjoyed the last book, or are still wondering about this prequel series, I ask that you keep reading. This started the Clans, and it is a very sad and hard trial they had to go through to get where the original series was. I started out disliking Gray Wing a lot, but seeing everything he has gone through, I can't help but root for him now. He has lost literally EVERYTHING precious to him, and his only hope to live rests with Thunder. Thunder has also lost much that is dear to him, as has every cat. And they continue to lose more precious cats because of this disease. Watching how they had to deal with so much death and heartbreak forced me to stop reading for a little because the emotions in this book were that powerful. It is hard to make me feel scared for characters but when a book does, it hits me hard.

This book is another great entry into the Dawn of the Clans, but this series seems to deal more with loss and death than the other series. If you are a fan of the books, this surely won't fail to entertain you, but I must warn you that happy moments are few and far between. So, enjoy this. If you are new to the Warriors, I cannot recommend this prequel series because it is not easy to get into. Start off with Into the Wild, which is the first series and the gateway that made me into a reader.

This book was great. I loved Star Flower and how, even though she was so sweet, the authors always made you suspicious of her and eventually made her betray the early settlers. I also liked Clear Sky's development and the idea of the sickness being the main threat. One Eye was cunning and a brilliant fighter, which made him a good villain for the book, but I do wish he could have lasted a little longer. Oh well. Maybe his legacy will continue in Star Flower. I'm also looking forward to seeing Tall Shadow's love for the marshals and pine forests grow, and River Ripple's group expand. I am also looking forward to development from Wind Runner, in specific, and other cats. I also can't wait to see Gray Wing, Clear Sky, and Jagged Peak's reaction to their mother coming to them, if she makes it, and Tall Shadow's reaction to meeting her nephew. I also can't wait to get to know Holly's kits and see what characters they'll make.
There also were little to no mistakes. Maybe there were, but I didn't notice them. And, lately, I've had nothing bad to say about Dawn of the Clans. It's as charming as the first arc of the series. Overall, The Blazing Star is a GREAT read and it's definitely a book I'll be rereading someday. I highly recommend it to anybody.

This book is definitely my favorite book out of the four that are of the Dawn of the Clans! Erin Hunter truly has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are right there, watching it all happen. I sometimes dream about being an author as great as Erin Hunter...........or J.K. Rowling, but preferably Erin Hunter (Don't tell J.K. Rowling I said that!!). The reason I gave it a five star rating is because it has all these twists and turns that make you want to keep reading on for hours and hours. It is really good and I love the way that Erin Hunter makes Star Flower seem like a cat with no home but then everyone realizes that Star Flower is actually One Eye's daughter!! I just love the way Lightning Tail was right but Wrong and the same as Thunder. I have always wondered how the clans came together in the first place, and here is the magnificent tale of the beginning of:
-SkyClan~Clear Sky
-ShadowClan~Tall Shadow
-ThunderClan~Thunder &
-WindClan~Wind Runner
I would recommend this book to a bunch of people and to name a few:
-Amy Fuller, Singapore, educated at AIS Singapore
-Juliette Rumming, Singapore. Educated at AIS Singapore
And a bunch more, I hope that people who read this enjoy it as much as I have!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this review,

I am a teenage warriors fan, and I've been reading the books since elementary school. Though I don't believe these books would fall under "great literature", they are entertaining, the characters endearing, and the universe is fantastic for anyone with an imagination. The Blazing Star was probably the BEST warrior book I've read. I thought I wouldn't like Dawn of the Clans as much without the Clan structure, but this looser structure of the cat groups allows for amazing plot elements. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. I seriously panicked at some points, and then laughed with relief.
The things I loved:
-It was full of non-cheesy, exciting, and gut wrenching plot twists
-Clear Sky was on "the good side", but his flaws and conflictions were still obvious and well written
-Kits actually had a role in this book, especially Sparrow Fur
-I love the character Slate. She seems perky and strong, and I personally like her better than Bright Stream, Storm, or Turtle Tail

The only thing I didn't like in this book was Star Flower. It was SO obvious she was a bad guy, she had no depth, and the fact that she was One Eye's daughter did not surprise me a bit.
