Too much fantasy is not a good thing!,

I use to say I never read a Madeline Baker book that I didn't like .. until I read this one. How many times can a man be enslaved (by the same person) and escape!? And then again by a "flesh peddler"!! Three moons, unicorns, giants and a dragon? Gimme a break, not very believable at all. And the way the heroine speaks is very grating on the nerves "thy mother forgives thee, I thank thee, hold me then, for the night is coming and I fear the darkness". I spent a lot of time rolling my eyes while I suffered through this book - one of the worst romance novels I've ever read. I agree with the other reviewer who said Beneath a Midnight Moon is much better.

I like the book but I can't help but think that the heroine was too soft and didn't consider the feelings of the hero enough. I also agree with the last reviewer, there was lots of violence but not enough true romance.

I'm only 3 quarters through the book and I already love it. It mixes fantasy with reality and the past with the furture. Jarrett is a Lord who was striped of his titles. Leyla a maje, a healer by birthright. When both of them are captured and but in the same dungeon a love blooms. Leyla is bethroed from birth and will lose her powers if she becomes Jarrett's bride, but Jarrett can't live without her. Get this wonderful book to find out what happens to a love that shouldn't be. Once you pick it up you'll never but it down.
