Book Description

The battle which took place on the Little Bighorn river on June 25, 1876 has passed into legend as “Custer's Last Stand”. This remarkable book is a unique analysis of the oral and pictorial evidence for the appearance of nearly 30 named Sioux and Cheyenne warriors who were present that day, and for their parts in the battle. The fruit of many years' study by one of today’s most internationally respected interpreters and illustrators of Native American material culture, it offers biographical notes and meticulously researched color reconstructions, together with rare photographs and pictographs.

5.0 out of 5 stars The warriors who fought Custer December 22, 2013
By RA9876
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is a lexicon of detailed information about the individual warriors and chiefs that fought Custer and his cavalry at the Little Big Horn. It Includes maps showing the positions of the Indian tribes and the cavalry forces, plus exact details of what clothing, tribal decorations, and armaments individual warriors wore and carried in the battle. The book details how the Indians wore combinations of native dress and cavalry uniform pieces, and most were armed with better rifles than what Custer's men had. There are lots of books describing what the cavalry wore, but with this book hobbyists and modelers can accurately outfit model figures of the Oglala, Lakota and other tribes that fought against Custer.
