Great stories! Definitely buy the box set!,

This review is from: Warriors: The New Prophecy Box Set: Volumes 1 to 6 (Paperback)
Once you start this series, you will not want to stop until you have read the entire saga. The authors are experts at building suspense and writing cliffhangers, so save yourself some money, and buy it all at once. My eight-year-old son is deeply invested in these characters, and I'm hooked, too.
That said, these books are not the greatest literary works on the planet. They are full of stylistic inconsistencies, continuity errors (what color are Crowfeather's eyes?), and outright grammatical errors. Nevertheless, the stories themselves make up for the occasional lack of art in the telling of them, and I am glad to have been able to share them with my son.

My son loves these books,

Ironically my mother bought the first two books for my son two years ago, and they sat on his shelf. His best friend read them and raved about them, so he finally gave them a try. He has devoured these books. For the first time ever I found myself saying, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but put that book down!" He's now on book four. He started today, Thursday, and I can pretty much guarantee he'll be done by Sunday and begging for the next one. He took the AR tests at school for the first three and answered every question correctly. I'm thrilled! (He also loved "The Looking Glass Wars" - wasn't as crazy about the sequel "Seeing Redd.")

I bought this set last year for my then 9 year old daughter. She devoured them and then loaned them to her best friend. This Christmas I'm buying two more sets for a niece and a stepdaugher. Everyone loves them. 5 stars all around!

Great to a point -possible spoilers-,
This review is from: Warriors: The New Prophecy Box Set: Volumes 1 to 6 (Paperback)
I'm an 18 year old who has been a fan of the series since the release of the first book of the original series "Into the Wild". I loved the original series and still re-read them to this day. I am a die-hard warriors fan and probably always will be, so don't take this lightly when I say this series wasn't all that great.
When I read the first book I was expecting something totally different than what I got. It wasn't a bad surprise, but definitely wasn't what I expected. I enjoyed it. This enjoyment lasted for about the first three books. Then in Dawn, something I really hated happened(I won't say what, just suffice to say I had to put the book down and wait a bit before I could continue reading). I began to become wary of the direction the series was headed in, but was still willing to go along for the ride. The momentum of the story kept me going and I still enjoyed the books. Then I got to the last one. The biggest disappointment in the warriors series for me. It would be an understatement to say that the finale of New Prophecy pales in comparison to that of Darkest Hour. They aren't even close. I began to suspect I wasn't going to get what I had hoped for when I had maybe a chapter left and they still hadn't resolved the true conflict of the story. The ending of the series seemed extremely rushed. There just wasn't the same suspense, or even the same flow. The finale starts like it might lead somewhere, but the end comes far too soon and just left me sitting there wondering "Is that really it? Really?" The truth is, my friend(another avid fan) and I often still joke about it. I won't say it is a bad series, because that's not true at all. It is worth reading. Just don't come in expecting anything like the original series. You won't get it.

Warriors rocks!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Warriors: The New Prophecy Box Set: Volumes 1 to 6 (Paperback)
I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Warriors, so I bought this box set. I was delighted when it showed up at the door (I had bought the box set and Warriors 6 in the first series: The Darkest Hour in hardcover). But when I opened the box I wasn't too pleased with the state of these books. Edges were crinkled, coloring was weak in some areas, and there was the ocasional splash of ink on one of the pages. Though I am disappointed with Amazon's handling, I loved the books! Thank god for Erin Hunter!

Wow - my 8 year old (almost 9) son is just devouring these Erin Hunter books - we have never seen him read so much so quickly (he's read four books - over 1,000 pages - in the past few weeks). It's great to see him enjoy reading so much - he seems to always have a book close at hand - in his backpack, in the car, before dinner, etc. It seems he cannot put these books down, especially at bedtime :). Recommended!

I am enjoying this series. It is written from a variety of perspectives, but the storyline focuses a lot on feelings, like falling in love or overcoming jeolousy. I can't see this story appealing to a young boy. My son is reading the first one now, and he thinks that there is too much dialog and that it is a bit confusing. I think that he probably won't want to read the rest of them.
I'm enjoying the series, but I can see that it is really geared towards girls, despite the title. I'd also like to caution parents that this isn't a cute story about cats in a safe environment. It is an epic about a clan of cats who mirror human behavior, the good and the bad. It explores concepts of love, betrayal, death, envy, insecurity and friendship. I was quite surprised when a kit (kitten) died, and even more surprised when another did as well. The story has a lot of substance, but I recommend that you read it first so that you are prepared for and can adequately discuss some of the more difficult subjects with your children.

I can't say enough good things about the Warriors series. The only reason I picked this box set to review is because I couldn't possibly post comments about all of them. My ten-year old daughter loves them all. She's read each of the books (and not just in this box set) probably 2-3 times already. An unexpected and welcome bonus is that she, her friends and now her little sister enjoy playing out some of the characters together. They make up all kinds of games on the Warriors theme, draw Warrior cats, come up with new names for each other, etc. That to me is wonderful! I encourage my children to go outside to play and to use their imagination and I'm very glad that Warriors provide them with another reason to do so.
I highly recommend these books. You sure get your money's worth!

If you loved the first series of warriors you'll PROBABLY like this one. I'd have to say that the first series is much better. But since it's well warriors they're great books. You'll love them! The main characters of the first series aren't as big as the second series. They go down another generation of cats as the main characters and you see what they think. These books have a little of everything. You have to read them! I can't say more.

These books are very well written. You will become a warrior as you read these tales. You never forget they are cats but you will see the world through their eyes. Great for readers 10 and up. Having the full set is a must, You will not want to wait for the next book.
