I ordred this based on opinions that this re-recording of their debut was more fresh sounding. Well, that's half true. It is not well mixed. It does not sound like someone with a rock/metal background engineered or mixed this. I checked the old recordings online elsewhere, and true the fidelity is not as good, but the vocals are better-more toward the claim they sound like Judas Priest. The guitar solos on this re-release-most are quite predictable. I do not know if they played their old solos note for note or came up with new ones. The second track's guitar solo starts off ok, then ends up in a pentatonic that does not fit the key, a diminished scale run that is also not in the key, and a tapping/hammer riff that passes through a major third of the root, not the minor third as it should be. Lastly about the cd packaging-The songs listed on the back are not in order of the tracks. The picture of them looks ridiculous. I am not saying one has to have a mop on top to be a metal player, but, these guys look like the guys on my block that have desk jobs. A better bet would have been no picture and just the logo, which is cool.

I originally picked up the 1984 Morada reissue of the "Warriors of the Son" album (Morada reissued the original Rotten Records release with a new cover and better distribution) back when it came out, and was blown away then by the power, heaviness and rawness of this band. That first release was great for that time, but was limited and rough due to the technology and funding of that age. Their subsequent releases, however, just got better and better, and this band continued to blow me away through the 80's.

This reissue twenty years later is very special for many reasons. First off, the new five piece edition of the band went back into the studio, and from the ground up re-recorded all of the original songs from the original album. This gives the CD a much higher qualify sound, a vast improvement in clarity, and more powerful than ever. The raw, roughness and slightly muddy feeling of the original album is gone, and we have a huge improvement all around. I am glad the band did not totally rework the songs, so what we have is a very faithful rendition of the original.

The other geat aspect is the inclusion of bonus tracks, "Killers and Destroyers" and "The Reaper." These songs were supposed to be on the original album, but finances did not allow them to record them at the time. So this original six song EP has become an eight track metal masterpiece of heavenly metal, as only Saint can bring it you you.

I do not have this one either, but I have the original and I have heard song clips of this re-recording from Saint's website.

Much like the other review, they sound a lot like Priest. Josh Kramer's voice can STILL hit the high notes to this day.

The clips I have heard of this give it a fuller sound, much better production and a much better, mature band. It also includes some bonus tracks.

Saint also recorded a NEW album "In The Battle" which has that classic SAINT sound from the 80's, much better than 1999's "The Perfect Live". Do a good search on Saint and visit their site. They have sound clips, videos and more. The newest release is "Sain Live" that was released in Dec 05.
