1.0 out of 5 stars More corporate blah blah blah
I read this book because my boss made me. This is another in a long line of books written by an average person who thinks he's got it all figured out. When will these corporate robots learn that you can't put yourself or others in a box. Want to be a good manager? Be an individual and learn to work with other individuals period.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stories Compliment Facts. DON'T BE A WEASEL., June 9, 2006
This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
This book is a must read for every entrepreneur, business manager and marketer wishing to identify him or herself and capitalize on their strengths and protect themselves against the evil lurking around the office.

O'Leary's book is fun, relevant and simple to understand which is not common in most business titles. The title, Warriors Workers Whiners and Weasels says it all; these are the 4 primary personality types branded by Tim O'Leary whose entrepreneurial life is packed full of success and even a few failures which support his theories and arguments. O'Leary doesn't just narrowly talk about business; instead, he writes about the people of business and how to decipher the good from the bad, especially when the good aren't really good. Because businesses are typically run by "warriors" this does not exactly mean the leader is a true warrior. O'Leary explains that many weasels actually posses warrior tendencies and are identified by their alternative motives packed full of selfishness, destruction and deception.

Knowing and living by the information covered in this book will enable readers to live positive and productive lives, while simultaneously limiting any negative impact on the social environment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warriors Workers Whiners and Weasels, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
Easy to understand explanation of the distinct personalities involved with differenct types of people in the work place. I was dealing with a whiner/weasel at work and after I read this, I addressed this person and now they are hiding from me. They do not like to be confronted and that is what I have done. Great read and would recommend it to new supervisors.

This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
I bought this book thinking it would help me manage the different personalities in my workplace. Instead it thought me to look within myself at my different characteristics and how they affect my own success. It reminded me that I have to control what I can control and let everything else go.

This is a pretty darn good read. Not the next "Good to Great" but I don't think it's intended to be quite that. It's one of the funnier business books out there. Get it if you are looking for an easy, fun and insightful business read. O'Leary is also a pretty inspiring character.

Definitely makes for a good birthday present for that weasel in the cube next to you.

O'Leary hit the nail on the head with this book. After reading it I have a much greater understanding of the different types of people. It is much easier for me to identify my "whiner" characteristics when they arise and combat them right away. This book has also helped me to understand my business associates and why they approach things the way they do.
The ideas and examples in this book will give anybody more confidence in exploiting their own strengths as well as those around them.

4.0 out of 5 stars This Author is the Babe Ruth of Entrepreneurs., June 2, 2006
This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
I just graduated from O'Leary's Alma Mater (The University of Montana) and received a rough copy of Warriors, Workers, Whiners and Weasels from one of my professors. My original post-college plan was to do the typical travel the world and find myself thing but this book has changed all that. The Wisdom O'Leary share's has given me the determination to break the mold of my "whiney" generation and work to establish myself as a warrior.

I should try to work for O'Leary.

This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
In Warriors, Workers, Whiners and Weasels, O'Leary simply explains the 4 different personality types making up society. Of course everyone automatically assumes they are warriors or even workers; however, you may be shocked by the sad reality of actually being a whiner or weasel. If this is the case you have already conquered the first step to solving your problem by recognizing it and Tim O'Leary's book is the ultimate resource to take you the rest of that way.

If in fact you do happen to be a warrior or worker, the lessons covered in this book enable you to identify and expand on your positive attributes while simultaneously eliminating the negative forces limiting your capabilities and threatening your potential.

In addition, O'Leary's words will help you to recognize and capitalize on the resources around you and identify the warning signs of those who can infest your career with dysfunction and failure.

No matter what field you work in you can find value in this book. I have read so many business books during my career and right now this sits on the top of my recommendation list.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will positively influences your life and career., June 2, 2006
This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
I got a demo copy of the book in early spring from a colleague of my husbands and think it is fantastic. Tim's theories are rational and completely backed up with experiences and examples. The humoristic approach taken to the content makes for enjoyable reading pertinent to every area of business.

My favorite section is the chapter on "Weasel Radar" where O'Leary gives instructions on how to complete the difficult task of spotting a weasel. Like many of the topics discussed in the book; weasel spotting is extremely important. A lot of times it is dangerous to just get rid of a weasel because he/she might possess too much information. So, having good weasel radar allows you to identify a true weasel and get rid of it before it's too late.

I wish I had this book before giving up on my business. I might just have to give it one more go before I officially retire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Written For Everyone, June 2, 2006
This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
Anyone can appreciate Tim O'Leary's Warriors, Workers, Whiners and Weasels. This book is not gender bias (like most good business publications which are skewed to the male sex) and the information is relevant to all facets of business. I originally picked it up for my husband but ended up reading it myself; I guess, I will need to buy him his own copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and Motivating!, June 2, 2006
This review is from: Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels:: The 4 Personality Types in Business-And How to Manage Them to Your Advantage (Hardcover)
Warriors, Workers, Whiners and Weasels is a truly inspiring piece of work. As a young aspiring professional, this book has given me the confidence and know-how to achieve greatness in this competitive age of business.
O'Leary breaks down business personalities into 4 types and provides insight on how individuals can identify which category they fall under. The concepts he discusses are really simple to follow and just as easy to apply.
I am psyched to have received a pre-released copy of the book and am excited to purchase more copies to give as Fathers Day gifts.
