Book Description

War's Passion is the first in a new seductive series that merges Greek Mythology and dragons with the contemporary world.

After losing her parents in a brutal attack from a monster straight out of her nightmares, Gwendolyn Preston tries to pick up the shattered pieces of her life. Along with her best friend, she moves to a small fishing village on the coast of Maine to find a new life away from the nightmares that haunt her. Just when she believes her life could go back to normal, the deliciously dark and handsome Markus Sullivan disrupts her hopes to grieve in peace.

Markus drew the short straw when it came to being the liaison between his father, Ares--God of War--and his brothers. When he discovers that the earth bound demi-gods, known as the descendants, have banded together to start another rebellion against the gods, it becomes his number one priority to stop them.

That is until he meets Gwen, the granddaughter of Aphrodite, and the next target of the descendants. Together, their path is rife with passion and danger. It might take more than the son of War to win this battle...Gwen herself.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This was a fantastic and very exciting start to a new series by Lia Davis.  I love dragons and Greek mythology and this had elements of both.  The plot was fantastic and really captures your imagination." ~  4.50 / 5 - Reviewer Top Pick from Night Owl Reviews

4.0 out of 5 stars A great start to a new series. March 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this new series by the wonderful Lia Davis. This story has a little bit of fantasy, with Gods and Dragons, as well as action and some hot sexual chemistry that blended together has created a very interesting and entertaining romance. I was hooked from the start and found myself drawn into Gwen's and Markus' story. Gwen is a woman who lived through a tragedy and now finds herself surrounded by the same type of creature that killed her parents, Dragons. I felt for Gwen and her internal struggle to come to terms with the Gods and their rules as well as her fear and attraction to Markus, a Dragon. I am looking forward to continuing stories in this fantastic new series and am sure other readers of romantic fantasy will as well.
I received a complimentary copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let It Be Yours Also March 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Since I have read this author before and know she can certainly write paranormal very well I was intrigued that she was now writing a new series-one featuring dragons. I must say dragon shifters are one of my favorite in the paranormal, the passion they contain and to be wrapped fully by one would definitely be divine. I have come to realize also that when as a reader you come to expect certain novels from authors we the reader can probably sometimes get that author stuck in a cast so to speak expecting the same stories. I could be wrong but it is novel then for that writer to venture out on a new one hoping it will be just as well received. This author has that ability to deliver different and new series that captivates us the readers especially with this one mixed with mythology also. Taking wonderful dragons and bringing them to life in a storyline she does that grabs you by neck right away. The ground work is laid out splendidly with Gwen and the night her parents are taken away from her with the terror left that follows her to the present. She also has best friend/adopted sister Elle who was not there that night but is still with her in the present day. They are also close too because they know they are different and feel more comfortable with each other. They go to see a house that Elle has chosen for them to buy together but it will be a project house. Help will be needed in this endeavor which happens to be near by. But when they meet with that help Elle knows right away that they are not mere mortal men but something else altogether, plus the basis of Gwen's terror. These two also though are not mere women either and meet up with these fine men they needed too. Read more ›

4.0 out of 5 stars LITERAL ADDICTION's Review of War's Passion March 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:

War's Passion was my first foray into the lovely imagination of Lia Davis, and what a great place to start. A family of dragon shifters descended rom Ares' dragon a la the legend of the Spartoi, Demi-gods & goddesses descended from Artemis, Aphrodite, Nyx, the Fates & more, a lovely open society world in a quaint seaside town, a surprising twist, an antagonist with tension (also a family member) and some red hot passion.

Trying to get away from destructive events of her past, Gwen (our heroine) moves to a small town in Maine with her best friend and adopted sister. Unbeknownst to her, however, Markus (our hero) and his brothers - the same types of creatures that haunt her nightmares - live there as well, and their fates are inexorably intertwined.

As the brothers try to stop their rogue brother and his band of misfits from starting a war with the gods and protect Gwen, her sister and the other Descendants from being tools in Garrick's nefarious plot, we get a wonderfully paced and fresh new paranormal romance in a fantastic new world full of myth and magic

I'm really looking forward to Ty and Ash's book in book #2.

**I normally wouldn't do this, but I feel it unfair to the readers not to mention it. There were a lot of editing issues in the book (I purchased the Kindle copy from Amazon). The story was really, very good, but you do need to try and ignore the misused words, missing words, etc throughout the book and just concentrate on the tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beginning to a promising new series March 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So I have read all of Lia Davis’ Ashwood Falls Series and fallen in love with her characters. I can’t get enough so I figured I would try her new series Sons of War. I haven’t really gotten into dragon shifters yet, but I’m so glad I tried this one out. The story was short and sweet. I loved that we get a sneak in to a couple of the other matings that will be coming up as well. I can’t wait for Ash and Ty’s story or for Zavier and Elle’s. I love both pairs.

There was action, smoking chemistry and a love that unfolded beautifully in War's Passion. Gwen was a strong heroine who had been through an emotional hell. She faces her demons and deals with the aftereffects of the attack on her parents. She doesn't give up and is ready to train to fight the bad guy immediately.

I loved this book and can't wait for Ashes of War. War's Passion leaves off with a great beginning to that book!

5.0 out of 5 stars War's Passion Review March 3, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The first book in the Sons of War series is an intriguing and exciting paranormal romance featuring dragons and the Greek Gods that sends chill down the spine.

Trying to get away from the nightmares that haunt her, Gwendolyn Preston moves to a small fishing village on the coast of Maine with her best friend. But much to her surprise the deliciously dark and handsome Markus Sullivan disrupts her attempt at a normal life. Markus has discovered that the earth-bound descendants of the gods have banded together to start another rebellion against the gods and it becomes his number one priority to stop them. That is until he meets the next target of the descendants, Gwen- granddaughter of Aphrodite and together their path is rife with passion and danger.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats with action, suspense and romance. The author brings the mythological to life with well written scenes, vivid imagery and enchanting characters that capture the imagination and keep the reader thoroughly engaged to the very end. Gwen is a traumatized young woman who captures the heart with her inner strength that finally shines through and Markus the reluctant leader of his brothers in this war against the descendant is so charming especially when he tries to hide his smiles and pretend he doesn’t have a heart. Together they make a wonderful couple and along with the great cast of gods, goddesses, and demi- gods ensure that the reader wants to know more.

The attraction between Markus and Gwen sizzles with passion from every page, but the romance will take a little work, Gwen has to overcome her nightmares and Markus believes that they will be dire consequences to his mating with Gwen.
