5.0 out of 5 stars big toe for moe.
Ok. For starters, there is no need to preach to the choir here. This review is for the party who thinks they might be interested in this band but aren't sure where to begin. Well , this is the place. moe. is a band whose main asset is their live performances, and those of us who have been initiated into that scene know well enough that this band is a huge South American...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good show- not so good sound
This is a great show, but I am stumped by how bad the sound is on the CD. First of all, turn down the treble on your stereo before you turn up the volume on the CD. This CD is very "crispy" with a whole lot of high-hat to listen to and not enough warmth. The percussion sound leaves a bit to be desired as well. I have been seeing and listening to moe. since...

Ok. For starters, there is no need to preach to the choir here. This review is for the party who thinks they might be interested in this band but aren't sure where to begin. Well , this is the place. moe. is a band whose main asset is their live performances, and those of us who have been initiated into that scene know well enough that this band is a huge South American python, and once they get ahold of your little toe on your left foot, eventually they will end up swallowing you whole. So, this is your chance to stick out that toe and see what happens. moe. has stumbled onto something here that I have long thought was a no brainor for those musicians whose main asset was live perfofmance - official release of complete and intact live shows while the band is still performing, as opposed to the typical practice of releasing selections from the "archives" once the band has retired. This is a rock and roll band whose sound has touches of jazz ,reggae, hillbilly music and Dark Side of the Moon, and if that un-nerves you then it's best that you stay away, but frankly, the price of this 3 disk live set makes it a pretty safe investment, and my guess is that by the time you get to the end of set 1 on the second disk, you'll already have the bands website up, searching for the next show in your town (and they tour extensively so they will be there shortly). As for all you members of the choir, you won't find stuff this clean on any trading site (even comes with artwork by Chuck and it's labled with the wrong date, thats moe. for you!)

This show is amazing. I am a huge moe. fan who was raving about this show after attending it and I am extremely excited that it was chosen as the first in this live series. This show will turn anyone into a moe. fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give me moe moe. !!!, June 30, 2002

These 3 Cd's are moe. I think they called it 'Warts and All' because you are getting the sound man's mix on CD. Generally this is OK, but as other reviews pointed out, it leaves something to be desired.

Overall, I felt that the mix/sound on the Moe L CD was better, but there is a special 'sound' to this one that makes you feel that you are in the club with them - and that is where they are the best-est. Naturally I was disappointed on some of the selections. Meat, Timmy Tucker, Moth, Seat of my Pants were on the Moe L 'series' - so why repeat them here? Granted, I think that the renditions of these songs are better on this one, but guys, it is time to pick some unique, new stuff for Volume 2 of this 'series' should it continue. I only ask that we moe. fans are not barraged with 20 volumes like Pearl Jam tried to do.

For the moe. beginner, get 'no doy', 'L' or 'tin cans and car tires'. For all the rest (moe fans), this CD, warts and all, is worth it, as the jamming is awesome and moe is in true form.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good show- not so good sound, April 30, 2003

This is a great show, but I am stumped by how bad the sound is on the CD. First of all, turn down the treble on your stereo before you turn up the volume on the CD. This CD is very "crispy" with a whole lot of high-hat to listen to and not enough warmth. The percussion sound leaves a bit to be desired as well. I have been seeing and listening to moe. since '96 and have way better sounding tapes and CD's of live shows than this one. In my opinion, moe. can do away with the audience microphone mix and just stick to the soundboard, or turn down the levels on the mics in the mix. Volume 2 is a bit better, but for The Tabernacle in Atlanta, it is way below par (judging by what I have heard released by other bands at this same venue).

The show in Volume 1 is stellar, but if you want great sound, you won't find it here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great first show of the series, November 8, 2001

This review is from: Warts & All (Audio CD)
I have been listening to a audio version of this show since 2-28-01. Now that a SBD copy has come out I was excited to hear the difference. Even though I had a great quality audio recording of the show the SBD sounded much better. Here is the setlist of the show:
2/28/01 Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton, PA

1: Head, The Ghost of Ralph's Mom, Nebraska, Crab Eyes, Moth* > Timmy Tucker

2: Happy Hour Hero > Seat Of My Pants, Tambourine, Waiting For The Punchline, Kyle's Song > Meat** > Moth reprise

E: I Wanna Be Sedated

* With "Meat" tease. ** With "Third Stone From The Sun" (Jimi Hendrix) and "Running With The Devil" (Van Halen) teases.

It is a great show and its worth buying. I can't wait until the next show comes out.

WOW!! Disc 2&3 show so many facets of the styles moe. has conquered. I had to get this after hearing 'Waiting for the punchline' on Sirius. Was I surprised to hear Moth/Timmy Tucker. Then to hear disc 3. Disc one is alright just not the same intensity as 2 or 3. What a diverse and talented band. If you have never heard moe. or are thinking of giving them a listen, pick this volume of warts and all up and you will hear what they are all about.

If you're a fan of moe. or just a casual listener, this is a great gateway into the world of live moe. Good sound and solid jams make it an easy listen from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great band, great show, July 21, 2003
This review is from: Warts & All (Audio CD)
WOW! what a show. i've been to 11 moe. shows in counting including this one. The moth > timmy tucker is as good as it gets, one of my all time favorite jams, all time, amazing. Those 2 tracks (60 min.) is worth the 20 bones. Solid show from start to finish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, July 11, 2003

This is a great Moe. CD, all three sets are filled with incredible songs and jams. With a 30 minute "Timmy Tucker" what is there not to like about the CD. Some other great songs in which they go into great jams are "happy hour hero" and "Nebraska" The only problem is some songs vocals sound fuzzy, but but all in all its a great CD, filled with awsome jams. Also its a geat value...for three Discs. IF you like the sound of Moe. this is a great CD to buy!

This review is from: Warts & All (Audio CD)
This a great album from a great live band. I've seen them a couple of times and it was unbelievable. Moth, Timmy Tucker, and Meat are my favorites. It's definitely one of the best versions of Meat that I've heard
