sick,

i bought this album expecting to hear another moe. show, but i got so much more. moe. jams even more than usual in this show, dated feb 23, '02. discs 2 & 3 really show moe. at their finest. jams in Meico, Sensory Deprivation Bank, and Rebubula make this cd worth having. for those of you who haven't seen moe. live yet, this cd really gives you a good idea of how good they can be when seen in concert and for those of you who have seen moe. live, this cd will make you want to see them jam live in concert again as soon as possible

MOE. @ Their Best,

For those of you that are not familiar with moe. please check this album out. My first few albums were studio recordings but this album made me fall in love with the band. This 3 CD set is moe. at the top of their game. This concert in Atlanta shows off their unsurpassed ability to rock and their insane talent for extending jams that capture the attention of the listener while taking them on a "musical journey" that travels from mellow chords to intense climaxes.
The first set is basically a list of some of there most succesfull individual songs each played to their fullest. These are the best versions of each of these songs that I have ever heard. The set demonstrates the ambiance that typically surrounds each moe. concert and the band's unprecidented interaction with their fans. The second set is probably my favorite out of any concert I have ever heard. Each song flows seamlessly into the next, from the beggining of "Mexico" to the finale "Rebubula." The band somehow mantains a ridiculously intense and phenomonally fast paced jam, the highlightas of which are definately the segues that connect each track. I have listened to this set countless times and each time I am even more impressed and surprised by the way the band flows so effortlessly from song to song. Its extremely impressive and equally rewarding to listen to. From my point of view this is THE difinitive live moe. album and is my favorite jam band album of all time. Go out and buy this album now if you call yourself a jam band fan and even if you dont give it a try, it may grow on you as it did me. Have fun and happy listening.

I'll make this brief. I've enjoyed the sounds of moe. for about four years now and when it comes to live bands I have to say that these guys are pretty much the best in the business and this is truly a testament to that. I've listened to several moe. shows because of my recent intoduction into the tape trading world and I think, with the exception of a Halloween show (they covered the Dark Side of the Moon), this is the best live concert I've listened to from them. Its filled with really groovin' jams and some just all around fun to listen to songs. You should check it out, you won't be disappointed.

moe. at their best.,

Being an owner of all 4 w&a sets, I would consider this far and away the best. moe. is driven by energy in their performances and it's obvious at first listen that there was plenty of it that night. W&A #2 also has the best setlist in my opinion. Highlights of the album for would be Spaz RX, Letter home is a nice burn tune, an early kids with a nice climax, and four>rebubula is one of the greatest segues ive ever heard in live music. A cover of Jimi Hendrix' fire caps of the show and it sounds pretty darn good. This also has two hidden tracks in Spine of a Dog>buster which comes after fire. If you are a casual moe. fan looking for a live show, look no further this has most of the fan favorites (OkayAlright, Timmy, MEXICO!, SeatOfMyPants, reboob, etc.). Id give it 6 stars if i could. Hoot Hoot

moe. live,
By Timmy Tucker (us) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Warts and All, Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
this three disc live show is one of the better moe. recordings. dither left me slightly disappointed. i thought (L) would be moe. at their best, but warts and all vol. 2 blows (L) out of the water. jammed out songs like kids and mexico make this disc worth buying. words cant accurately describe the musical chemistry between the members of moe.; one must listen and absorb the music with a clear and open mind. probably the most talented guitarists in the jam band scene today, al schnier and chuck garvey absolutly shred on every disc in this set. the soloing and jamming between the musicians are unbelievable and very intense at times. one almost doesn't realize that there are, in fact, humans playing the instruments being heard. another highlight is vinnie amicos fantastic drumming, some of the best grooves ever laid down on a live CD. all in all a bang up job done by moe., and hopefully a volume 3 from the warts and all series will hit stores soon. lets hope volume 3 is as good as this. peace.

Somewhat uninspiring; much more subdued than Volume 1,
By Steve Jackson (Syracuse, NY United States) - See all my reviews

Nicely done, but lacks the intensity and energy of Warts & All Volume 1. The jams here are nicely woven and played, but this show lacks the level of overall ferocity of Volume 1 (disc 2 of which absolutely makes every hair on my body stand on end). Don't get me wrong - this is a nice show; I would recommend it for any fellow moe.ron. However, for the uninitiated listener I'd strongly encourage buying Volume 1 first. Another must-have is 'Live 3.1', available only via the band's website. There are indeed some moments of sheer excitement on this new disc (Timmy Tucker and virtually all of disc 3, which includes some nice hidden bonus tracks), but otherwise it tends to be a bit of a sleeper. Hope this helps.... remember, this is just one guy's opinion. Peace......

I've seen moe. countless times since 1997, including this concert in Atlanta...I missed the show the night before (also in Atlanta), but I definitely lucked out by making it to this one. A headbanger buddy who went with me commented that the 1st set was "pretty rockin', man", and I'd have to agree...other than the quiet "Letter Home", the boys kept the energy level at a mostly loud & intense pace. The 2nd set kept up the momentum with some excellent transitional jamming, beginning with the set opener "Mexico" all the way through to the closing "Rebubula". When the lights came on, I definitely felt like I got my money's worth, and this 3-CD set only confirms it. I'd recommend this volume of Warts And All over the others...superb show IMO.

Great album,
By Alex Doyne (Charlotte, NC United States) - See all my reviews

This is a great showing of what moe. is like in concert, but the best part by far is the filler after fire(the last track). The filler on this cd is an amazing Spine of a Dog>Buster. It is without a doubt one of the greatest jams every recorded. There is so much energy it blows my mind. You should buy the cd just for that one track. |
