This review is from: Warwick Avenue (MP3 Download)
There have been a lot of younger artists that really don't show enough grit with quality music. For newcomer Duffy, she tried to show that with the blues and beats on her debut single, Mercy, but it just didn't show more of her voice. Her second single, Warwick Avenue, from her debut album Rockferry, really beings in a deep and somber feeling of loss and being without the love of your life. Her voice sounds very mature, and brings in the mood well, which feels as good as we've felt with recent acts like Norah Jones who've brought in Jazz and Easy Listening. I like the song, because it brings in a mature soul, which we haven't really heard as much from young female artists this past year, when we've been hearing too much manufactured pop from Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus and many others. I really think this is a a great ballad for Duffy, and I hope the next single from Rockferry, does as good as this one.
