Mostly artists I've never heard of before, but who cares? I can tell that they love the songs they're playing as much as I do, and they do quite a nice job of it. Some songs sound a lot like the originals, while some take off into the wild. If you're a Beatles fan who likes tribute albums, try this one out. It's a love fest.

There are a few clunkers on this album and a few songs where the artist is trying too hard to sound like the Beatles (which is nearly always a mistake), but a great number of the tracks are nice reworks of the original songs. I liked it so much, I made a friend listen to it; he ended up liking it so much that he's ordering his own.

50 tracks (only about 3 i dislike) of alternative rock covers of beatle songs that retain the spirit of the original songs but have enough variations to make the songs fresh. that's exactly the model of a good tribute album. most of the songs are hard enough to rock, but still pop enough stay beatle-ish.

One of the better Beatles cover albums that I own. I have over 2300 Beatles cover songs by a variety of artists in a variety of styles and the 50 songs in this collection showcase many of the better cover versions. Recommend to add to your collection.

This album gets high marks for updating Beatles songs, dragging them into the 21st century with a mostly modern spin. The vast majority of the tracks come from acts I haven't heard of before, so I'm assuming they're mostly alt/indie groups trying to make a name for themselves.

2 stars for modernizing the songs, and 2 for the sheer volume of material.

However, there's no overall focus, there's an a cappella number here, one or two others that seem a little out of place. But, there are 50 tracks on 2 discs! And 50 different Beatles songs by 50 different artists - You're sure to find at least a few in a style you like that turn you on.

"It Was 40 Years Ago Today" has lots of different artists doing their interpretations of Beatles' songs. This CD is an excellent addition to a music collection.
