More About the Author

Hi.

I am Brooke Castillo.

I used to struggle with my weight. Now I don't. I wrote a book (If I am So Smart, Why Can't I Lose Weight) on why, and helped thousands of other women stop the struggle. It is such an honor to have been able to help.

I found a way to manage my mind in a way that keeps me happy most of the time. (Self Coaching 101) After years of therapy, self help literature and coaching,it has been the most effective thing I have done to create happiness.

As a coach, I help clients all day long find a way to live that feels like a contribution. It Was Always Meant to Happen that Way is a collection of that work.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

Our thoughts create our reality- good or bad

We can change our thoughts

There are many tools that work effectively on changing thoughts

Our thoughts drive our actions

There is nothing we truly want that we can't have

It isn't what we get to do-but who we get to be

All of our power is in this moment right now,
but that doesn't mean we don't focus on the future in this powerful moment

It has to be fun or forget it

I take what I learn and apply it in a way that resonates

I simplify the lessons that work most effectively
I teach the lessons to others

I focus on my strengths
I never apologize for the truth
I believe everyone deserves heaps of joy in this lifetime
I know the past has no power over me
I live a life knowing that everything I want is within me now
I realize that intelligence is not just in the mind
I believe it is possible to be spiritually aligned and wealthy
I strive for the impossible so I can call on a strength greater than myself
I believe I was put on the planet to coach, teach, and Be
I believe my happiness is the best gift I have to give my children
I know my husband is the best thing that ever happened to me as a human
I am intense and focused
I love my clients and feel it is a privilege to work with them-not the other way around
I am not better than you and I am not worse than you
Reading is as important to me as showering (sometimes more so)

Brooke is funny.
Real.
And absolutely inspirational.

She makes the complicated - simple.
She makes the difficult - doable.
She makes the impossible - reachable.

This is the kind of book you can just keep on your coffee table. Thumb through it when you need a pick-me-up. The chapters are short and elegant. Just read a few pages - and she'll make your day.

Brooke, has once again stepped up to the plate. I love this book, I found every page resonating with me. 100% Brooke, 100% honesty that is what you get from this book. I wouldn't have it any other way when it comes to Brooke, her coaching, and her books. I believe that everyone who purchases this book, will leave with at least one aha moment, if not many!!
YOU ROCK BROOKE. 5 Stars over and over again.....

I subscribe to a lot of blogs, and there are very few that blow me away each and every time. Brooke's is one of them. Some of what is in the book was previously posted on the blog, and some of it was not. All of it is amazing.

The subtitle is "some things I have taught and learned as a life coach," and I'm sure that is absolutely true. However, the wisdom and solid, deep truth in this book goes so far beyond what many people think of as "life coaching." I know there are a lot of life coaches out there, and many, many great ones (and I know some of them!) -- but there also a lot of "pseudo-coachy" people who are -- at worst -- trying to get your money, or -- at best -- so busy concentrating on concrete, worldly things like goal-setting, disciplining yourself, and getting ahead that the transformational aspect of coaching gets lost in the exercises and striving. That is not Brooke, or this book.

At the risk of sounding like I'm exaggerating -- Brooke Castillo is a modern-day wise soul. If Kahlil Gibran was a twenty-first-century American soccer mom, he would write things like this. Brooke has done the work and there is nothing she says that is not authentic, real, poignant, and true on a deep level. I love the work of Byron Katie (whose ideas Brooke has been inspired by and has drawn on) but I often feel like I can't achieve that kind of rarefied enlightenment in this messy world, in my messy life. Brooke brings it down to an approachable level. I can relate to her and her life. I leave her writing feeling like what she has done, I can do, too. I don't have to wait for some moment of divine awakening that may or may not come -- I can do this work, and awaken myself, day by day, while still living in the real world.

Brooke Castillo is brilliant. This book combines many of her blog posts along with new insights. Reading this book is like having a personal coaching session. Open the book randomly and you'll find jewels perfect for your current situation. She figures out what all the great self help gurus are saying and puts into easy to understand language. I loved this book.

I ordered this book because I get the blogs of Ms Castillo. She is amazing. The simplicity with which she presents the gifts of our muddled, confusing and stressful situations is like a deep breath in the midst of chaos.
Allowing what is to be without trying to shape or reconfigure it is a true gift. To be able to stand in the middle of your life, in a sea of work, details, lists, goals, bills-the messy continuum of daily living, and have the reassurance and insights that validate everything is happening exactly as it is supposed to, is like having your brain turn into a cup of peppermint tea. Soothing relief. For those of us who are trying to catch up to who we should be, it's a tranquil dose of appreciation for right now. I read a bit every few days and feel empowered and clear.
