5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun to read!
Lori Borgman can make you think as well as laugh. She has a unique take on things, and is not afraid to say what many of us think, but may not admit to thinking. I've been a fan of her newspaper column for several years, and was glad to hear that her first book was coming out. I enjoyed this book from start to finish! 3.0 out of 5 stars Focus of this book is on Adolescent Teen Agers - Wordy...
The book is ok -- not terrible but not great either. While reading it I rarely had a laugh-out-loud moment, but it did generate some smiles. I was thinking this book was going to be about parenting mainly in the ages of 1-5. But the book is actually about the ups and downs of raising teen agers which wasn't relevant for me. It would have been helpful if that was more...

I've been a fan of her newspaper column for several years, and was glad to hear that her first book was coming out. I enjoyed this book from start to finish! It made me laugh, it made me think, and it brought tears to my eyes at times. Parents, you'll relate to it. The short pieces it contains are perfect for the abbreviated attention spans we moms and dads seem to have after kids... I recommend Lori's book, and I'm looking forward to more from her!

This book is extremely funny...any mother can truly appreciate Lori's stories. Just about every story she told I was saying to myself "that's so true!!!" I highly recommend this for yourself and buy a few extras for presents for any other mothers you know!!!

Get set!! Go buy this book!!! Lori Borgman's columns started appearing in our local paper this year and it is hard to imagine a better antidote for today's glammed-up, TV-focussed world. She writes delightful, down-to-earth stories about issues today's families face, that will make you laugh, think and sigh. Definitely NOT boring!

5.0 out of 5 stars It was hilarious and thought-provoking all at once., April 19, 1999

Lori's style of writing reminds me of Erma Bombeck and I loved her columns and books. I especially enjoy reading the segments that make a point no matter how subtle. My favorites include Mary With The Dark Blue Nose and When The Ants Go Marching In. My favorite funny ones include Calling All Clothes and Honey Can't Find The Mustard. These hit close to home. Lori's book reminds me of talks with a good friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!! Should be on every coffee table!, January 18, 1999

More of this type literature should be in the book stores. Very down to earth. Use of common sense that most persons do not use today

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking and Fun, June 17, 1999
I enjoyed the book and my wife and I may buy it for a couple of people who may get somthing out of it. (Should). Too bad your reviewer isn't paid enough to buy books. It's a shame to have to read excerpts in a newspaper. Poor man.

It would have been helpful if that was more apparent in the book description. This is NOT a book for new Mom's or those parenting toddlers. For those age groups there is no material to relate to.

The book also tends to be fairly wordy - and I felt the urge to skim through the book just to make it go by faster. It didn't hold my attention or get me pouring into the book like other humorous parenting books I have read.

The title says it all. This wonderful book describes to a "T" the blessings and banes of child-rearing. It is funny, thoughtful and poignant all rolled into one. A marvelous effort.

This book is a pile of sludge. Trite, sentimental, banal, oh-isn't-that-cute-it-happened-to-me-too. Healthy happy people in Brady Bunch land. Like Erma Bombeck only more so. I never read any of her columns and can't imagine why they are so "wildly popular" as I could spew out the exact same treacle myself, pointing out the obvious things of everyday life. For collectors of Precious Moments figurines only!!!
