Book Description

*Due to adult themes and sexual content, this book is recommended for mature readers.*

Abby Sellers knows what she wants.

Enduring eighteen years in the shadow of her identical twin sister, Annika, she wants a fresh start. A chance to create her own life, separate from her conniving, deceptive twin.

Surprising both her family and friends, Abby ditches her plans for college and enrolls at a new school instead. There, she encounters West Montgomery, a sexy fellow student who immediately disarms her with his good looks and charm. West takes a liking to Abby and she suddenly finds herself walking a thin line, fabricating a fictional life created not by lies but by omission. She soon discovers West has secrets of his own, secrets that he's not altogether interested in sharing.

Out from under the shadow of her twin, Abby's life—and her relationship with West—blossoms. When Abby leaves town one weekend, something unthinkable happens and her relationship with West is shattered. Reeling from the discovery, Abby fears all of her plans have backfired and she's created a mess for both of them, a mess that no one can clean up.

But West isn't willing to let her go that easily. When he forces her to confront secrets they've both been hiding, Abby must decide more than if she's willing to forgive and forget. She must also decide just what kind of life she wants...and who she wants to live it with.

4.0 out of 5 stars A MUST Read!! NO Cliffhanger! March 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

Definitely one to add on your TBR list!!! Anna Cruise has hit the ground running with her debut novel and this an author to watch out for!!

I have read alot of NA lately and have to admit, I am getting burned out. Seems they are all kind of running together and the only thing that is really changing are the character names. So, needless to say, I was a bit worried that It Was You was going to be just like the rest. Let me say, I WAS SO VERY WRONG!!

I felt bad for Abby from the beginning. I could not imagine being in her position. Everything you hear about about twins and their bond did NOT hold true for Abby and Annika. There was a definite level of jealously going on for both twins. But Annika took hers to the extreme. I must say I hated her more and more as the book went on.

West Montgomery is my new book boyfriend and I am not sharing!!! I fell for his bad boy personality hard. But under all that bad boy exterior is a softie at heart. I mean he bakes chocolate chip cookies for Abby on their first date, does it get any sweeter than that?!

I won't lie, I kinda saw the twist coming. It was inevitable really. But it took nothing away from the story for me. Because even though I knew what was going to happen, I didn't know what the reactions were going to be. Or if the parties involved would be able to recover.

This author has taken the NA genre to a new level with her debut novel. She added a unique twist that, even though i figured out before it happened, I personally have never seen done before. She grabs you from the first chapter and keeps you wrapped up in the story until the very end. I seriously read this book in one sitting because I could not walk away. And even when it ended, I still wanted more!

Anna cruise is an author to watch out for because this is only the beginning for her!!

Oh, and there is NO CLIFFHANGER!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmm...MAJOR SPOILERS!!!! April 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked the book except for what happened with the hero and her sister. I really wanted to know what occurred between them before I read this book, but no reviewer had stated it. I am, so...SPOILER....the evil sister goes down on the hero. The hero knows something is wrong with his "girl" but his "girl" takes his pants off and goes down on him. I am pretty sure he pushes her away based on the sister's retelling of it but not before she starts. I hope anyways. I would feel better about the situation if she just started and got knocked away for acting weird over him finishing an intimate act with the sister. I know I have absolutely no reason to be mad at the hero because he thought it was his girl and he did not know about her being a twin but I still am a bit. I wish that he had just kissed her and then pushed her away or maybe had a completely different scene where he caught his "girl" in bed with someone else but that he was never physically involved. It makes me cringe knowing he was with the evil sister but you really cannot put any blame on him. I am actually mad at the heroine because she knows that her sister takes guys away and that her sister was looking up information about the hero, why did she still stay silent about being a twin??? she should have warned him!!! It was good but I had to vent about the sister getting physical with the hero. I hated that part so much!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok... March 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book felt seriously spans over 2/3 week's and wow does a lot happen too much. Not enough character growth for me. The H/h insta love I get that part I do I may even believe in it but the lack of communication about their pasts plays a huge part in the deception and its kinda dumb!
The writing is good so as a debut not bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical April 15, 2013

It was ok. Just another typical first love romance book. And the twin sister trying to seduce the other's boyfriend just was not something I wanted to see.

First reviewed at New Adult Addiction (I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review)

First off, Anna Cruise gets the award for best new hot dude name.

Say it with me. Weeeeessst.

Mmmmhmmm. It's hot. And so is he. But that's just one of the many things I loved about this book. Let's talk setting. It Was You takes place in San Diego and I lived in SD for a pretty good chunk of time over the years, so all the little local shout-outs were fun for me. From PB to TJ to the rolled taco stand (we all know what place that is...Oh, God, if I could get those freaking rolled tacos in Colorado, I'd be a happy girl). Getting drunk in PB, hitting the tacos, and eating them on the beach is just another Saturday night in San Diego. I loved that. So much.

So here's the set up: Abby has an evil twin named Annika. Trust me, she's evil. And she crosses Abby's line for the last time, making Abby decide to forgo her first year of college at State and instead enroll in the local community college...Harvard on the Hill aka Mesa CC. I've been to Mesa, so I could totally picture that hike up the stairs and that massive parking lot where the whole first real meet-and-greet scene takes place between Abby and West.

Here's where things get interesting. Abby wants to keep her life secret from West because of that nasty sister of hers is always breathing down her neck trying to ruin her life, steal her boyfriends and just generally make her miserable. West has his own secret, so the two of them begin to get to know each other, but they each leave out some critical information that complicates things later on.

I don't do spoilers, so you're getting none of that from me.

An easy light read. Pretty much no plot and what little there was is very easy to see what's coming There are some spelling and grammar errors if that's something that bothers you.

More About the Author

Anna Cruise has been drooling over boys since middle school...and writing about them, too. She hates cliffhangers, is a sucker for nice guys finishing first and revels in happy endings--and not just in books.

Anna grew up on the beaches of San Diego but currently resides in Minneapolis. Most of her writing is done in the winter, since she is pretty sure she's allergic to sub-zero temperatures and tends to hibernate until it's sunny and in the seventies. Her office is her couch and her colleagues are her kids and her sloth-like cats.

With ten books under her belt--and more on the way--she really wishes she'd taken keyboarding in high school. Typing with only three fingers is not terribly efficient.
