Wasa, which has a staff of around 950 people, has been owned by the Barilla Group since 1999. The head office is in Stockholm, Sweden, and the company has production facilities in Filipstad in Sweden, Celle in Germany, and Hamar in Norway.
The name Wasa has its roots in an old Swedish word, vase, which means sheaf. Since the 14th century, the coat of arms of the first king of Sweden, Gustav Vasa, and his family has featured a stylized sheaf. Gustav Vasa was sometimes called the "Rye King". No-one knows exactly where the name comes from, but it may have its origins in the fact that the king demanded that his people pay their taxes in the form of rye, a valuable commodity at the time. For many years, Wasa used a picture of the Rye King on its packaging. This was later replaced by a royal crown above the name. Today, the crown has been evolved to a crown-sheaf which represents the origins of Wasa. It also lends a royal air to crispbread, something which is also reflected in the fact that the company has been appointed purveyor to His Majesty the King of Sweden.

I like all the Wasa crackers, but this crispbread is truly tasty. I like that it is made with 4 whole grains, and it is an excellent carrier for peanut butter, cottage cheese, or whatever you want to put on it. Also, when you bite it, it doesn't break into a million pieces. Good stuff.

I've been eating Wasa Crisp Bread for the past 10 years with cream cheese, jam, ham, and other toppings for breakfast and sometimes dinner. It is quite filling despite being so light. I like the Multigrain the best because it feels and tastes more substantial than the others. Some people complain that it is too hard - but that's how it is. That is the reason it is so good - it feels like toast, but you don't have to toast it. It is not rock hard, just hard enough so that you use your teeth. Even my 16 month old son eats it... So if you've only eaten soft Wonder Bread all your life this might not be for you.
Another advantage is that it lasts a long time unrefrigerated (just keep it in a zip lock to avoid bugs) so is very practical to have around for a quick meal. I suggest using a tray to put butter and cheese on it, otherwise it will break if you use an uneven plate.
