A very nice knife, especially for the price. It's very well-balanced and comfortable to use. My Shun knives are designed for a right-handed user; this knife can be easily used by both left- and right-handers.

My mother-in-law wanted to replace her $40 multi-knife set because those knifes would not stay sharp. We purchased three KAI Wasabi Black knives for her (Santoku, 8" Chef's, and 6" Utility) as well as the Better Houseware 2404/12 Bamboo Magnetic Bar.

We find the knives to be sharp and comfortable. They definitely keep the sharp edge longer than her old knives. Plus, her counter looks much neater with the huge knife block gone. These knives come in nice boxes and would make a great present.

One thing that puzzles me is why Amazon calls these knives "SHUN Wasabi...". I did not find any reference to Shun on the knife boxes. I understand that the cutlery maker KAI that makes Wasabi line also makes Shun, but that is like calling Scion a Lexus.

I have been using this knife as my primary tool in a high volume commercial kitchen from prepping to slicing steaks. This knife holds an edge for a WHILE. Last time I sharpened it was in December and it's still really sharp. As long as you maintain it with a steel daily, this knife will never let you down. I have used Shun's and Wusthof's and nothing compares to this knives price.

Very nice knife, good balance, pretty sharp right out of the package. It was a little lighter than I expected, but after 5-10 mins. of use, you don't notice it. I work with guys that have the Shun forged version of this knife, and they've all made the comment that if they knew that this knife was this good, they would've bought this instead. I've had it for about 5 days now, no complaints. If there are any, I'll try to come back and update. Besides that, I recommend this knife on a budget.

I bought this as a substitute knife to use while my knives were being sharpened. I'm used to the Shun knives that have a good amount of weight in the handles. The Wasabi knives are lighter weight. I put duct tape on the handle to try and weigh it down a bit, to where I was more comfortable and it helped more for the Santoku knife than for the Chef's Knife. I don't regret the purchase, but I will stick to my Shun's.

Knife maintains its sharpness for long compared to knives of same or greater value. The grip is phenomenal and the wight is perfect for a knife that size (8-inch).

I use it everyday in my kitchen (restaurant) for all sorts of stuff.

Knife is really cheap, so I wasnt expecting a really hi-quality knife. For a restaurant use I wouldn't recomend it. After 2 weeks I start watching the sharp was loosing kind of fast. A sharping with a stone and is LIKE NEW! For a home-use is great.
