Cheap, but well below 1300 mAh.
on November 27, 2013
These cells are much cheaper than Canon's and seem fine mechanically, but don't expect 1300 mAh. The actual discharge curves, measured into a 20.1-ohm resistor, showed the capacity to be about 780 mAh (using Wasabi's charger). Both cells gave very similar results; a couple of charge/discharge cycles made no significant difference.
Wasabi's NB-5L batteries, also purchased this month, fell ever further short of spec -- a pair of NB-5L's had <50% of claimed capacity (680 mAh vs. 1400 mAh claimed) -- so the problem may be systemic.
Exaggerated capacity is hardly unusual for cheap Chinese batteries, and new, cheap batteries are probably an improvement over old, dying OEM batteries, so we'll call it 3 stars.
