5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine
i bought this as a backup battery for my Panasonic LX3. I've been using it for some months, and it works fine- just as well as the original Panasonic battery it seems- and it's much cheaper. Also, it comes with a 5yr warranty!

I use it with Lumix DMC-LX3, satisfied. I did not discover any big difference. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Have to see how long it last, August 12, 2011

This review is from: Wasabi Power Battery for Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12, DMC-FX150, DMC-LX3 (Japanese Cells, 1500 mAh, 3-YR Warranty) (Electronics)
When I ordered it, the product title says 3 yr warranty, Japanese cell, 1500 mAh. Now the 3 yr waranty on the title is gone, and not on the description either. Now it's back. The battery comes in a plastic carrier, inside a thin paper box, and nothing else such as a warranty card or something. On the battery it says 1700 mAh, Japanese, with the Wasabi company name on it.

The battery comes charged, and fits well into my camera.

There is a slight confusion about how long the battery last. I think some people means how long the charge in the battery last. At 1700 mAh it's about the highest on the market, while the original is 1100 mAh. I'm not going to measure how many pictures I can take. It will be a lot and it depends on a lot of factors like flash. To me this is not the critical spec. The original battery last long enough each charge.

My critical spec is literally how long the battery last. My originally charger broke. I got a cheap replacement that comes with new batteries too. The new unbranded batteries died after a month or two. First it expanded, making it difficult to take out from the camera. Then the batteries hold less and less charge. Then it's only good for one outing, and I dare not take video clips. Soon the charge won't last long enough to download video clips. Meanwhile the original Panasonic battery still goes strong. Then after years of use, it suffered the same fate. Hence this new battery.

How long the charge last and how long the battery last do not depend only on the battery. The charger is another critical item. If you are using a cheap replacement charger, it may be blamed as much as a cheap battery. If you have a cheap non-smart one, the best you can do is to take out the battery once charging is finished as indicated. You can take out the earlier the better as undercharge will not harm Li-ion batteries. But the charge won't last as long.

The company name is on the battery so it's hopefully not the same as my last generic ones. But I prefer that the company is a multinational, will still be there when the warranty expires. But that's asking for Panasonic isn't it? It cost a few times more.

Instead of buying a new battery, I could have upgraded to a new camera. But I don't need any more mega pixels for a point and shot camera. I'm not prepared to get a SLR len yet. It's really cheap to get HD video too, but for pictures the pixels at HD is still much worse than an old digital camera. There are ones with lots of pixels and do HD video clips, but they cost a lot more than my battery. My cam is a keeper.

Dec 2011: It look likes the real deal. The battery hardly needs charging, only topping up when I am going to take a lots of pictures or videos. So I can't tell you if the battery is being degraded by the charge/recharge cycle. But it will last a long time because - it hardly needs charging. It's worth it even though new smartphones have 8MP cameras. Bigger lens make better pictures and you won't trust your kids with your phone.

I've been using this product as a spare battery for my LX-2 for over a month. It fits the camera very well. Most importantly, it powers the camera very well--as well as the original one. So it is definitely a good replacement or standby of the original one. I'd love to buy it again if I need to get rid of the old one. Excellent experience, high recommendation!

I would say the price is affordable and everything is working fine. It fit perfectly in my camera. I love that it has a 5 year warranty and making me trust it will last as long as 5 years or longer.

I recently used the battery as a supplementary battery for my Leica D Lux 4. It worked perfectly and was much more reasonably priced. Good battery, rapidly sent. Good price. Who could ask for more?
