This review is from: Washburn D30S Acoustic Guitar
When I was considering this guitar I was also looking at other brands such as the Seagull A6 and Washburn's D10 which are more commonly available at your local store. If you can find those at your store you can get a better feel for where this guitar stacks up.Looks wise, I give this guitar a 5 star rating. It is absolutely beautiful! It looks exactly like the picture except when you see it you're surprised that it actually looks that good. When I opened the case and saw my guitar I was instantly happy that I had chosen this guitar. You can be the judge on that though based on what you are looking for. At $90 more, the Seagull A6 looks somewhat ugly but it makes up for it in sound. The sound is about what you would expect from a $350 guitar. It is not as nice as the Seagull A6 (though I don't think any in this price range are) and is probably comparable to a well set up Washburn's D10 which is commonly found at your local store. It has no major flaws that are not correctable however guitars made in places like Indonesia can be hit or miss on quality. The guitar came to me with a perfectly straight neck but over time I did start to notice some warpage in the neck. This is correctable but can hurt its playability and sound if you don't know how to get it fixed. When mine started to warp I heard an instant deterioration in the sound quality but was able to fix it by adjusting the neck tension. With this guitar it might be a good idea to learn how to do that. The difference between this and the D10 to me were mostly in the look. Personally, I think the extra $99 is worth the beauty and considering that Washburn has stopped making them as they have with the Rarewood series I think they'll keep their value better than the extremely common Washburn D10. Looks= 5 star (Better than guitars three times the price) Sound= 2.5 star Sound/Price= 4 star (If you keep it operable)
