Book Description

0781791553 978-0781791557 September 22, 2008 Second

Prepared by residents, fellows, and attending physicians, this handbook is a practical guide to the general internal medicine consult. The content is based on the top 25 most common general internal medicine consults as seen by the hospitalist. The focus is on management issues, with additional material on the perioperative care of the patient with a medical condition. Clinical evidence is presented along with the official guidelines advocated by major medical organizations.

This Second Edition is completely revised and updated. Illustrations have been added, and key points about diagnosis and management have been bulleted for easy reference.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price., January 11, 2011

This review is from: The Washington Manual® General Internal Medicine Subspecialty Consult (The Washington Manual® Subspecialty Consult Series) (Paperback)
The book presents common cases you see in a IM rotation, but it really lacks the broad material needed to do well in a rotation as massive as IM. I found the washington manual of medical therapeutics MUCH more useful overall as a investment. Not to mention it's cheaper as well. I'd recommend not getting this book, and instead go for the washington manual of medical therapeutics.
