Book Description

0781743702 978-0781743709 October 8, 2003 1

Prepared by cardiology fellows and residents and reviewed by attending cardiologists, this quick-reference handbook from the Washington University School of Medicine is a pragmatic guide to the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular disease. The text is fully supported with illustrative tables and figures. It covers symptoms and diseases, inpatient and outpatient approaches, and acute and chronic problems with the same front-lines practicality as the world-famous Washington Manual® of Medical Therapeutics. Reflecting today’s emphasis on evidence-based medicine, the practical approaches are clearly supported by clinical investigations. A section on testing and procedures includes imaging, diagnostic testing modalities, management of anticoagulation in surgical patients, and cardiovascular critical care procedures and provides fast reference to important concepts.

This handbook is also available electronically for handheld computers. See PDA listing for details.

The Washington Manual® is a registered mark belonging to Washington University in St. Louis to which international legal protection applies. The mark is used in this publication by LWW under license from Washington University.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comparison with last edition, August 3, 2006
This review is from: The Washington Manual Cardiology Subspecialty Consult (Paperback)
The book is defficient in core knowledge of cardio as compared to the previous edition. The style in which references were given in the previous edition was also better. But the new book is more reader friendly, concise yet comprehensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful book, August 30, 2007

This review is from: The Washington Manual Cardiology Subspecialty Consult (Paperback)
This book is a useful tool when you consider a cardiology rotation and internal medicine day to day problems. It includes a good number of recent data with reference to the articles of origin. It also is uptodate regarding ACC/AHA guidelines in cardiac disease management. Overall has more than the Washington Manual of Medical therapeutics regarding cardiology, explaining better the WHYs of the therapy. It does not include everything you could imagine in terms of Cardiology and it is not a textbook. It also does not have any good EKG session, so consider other resources for that. It can become for sure, though, the starting point of a more in depth study of cardiology.
