From the Back Cover

Tired of the same old tourist traps? Whether you're a visitor or a local looking for something different, let Washington Off the Beaten Path show you the Evergreen State you never knew existed.

Visit the American Hop Museum, the country’s only museum dedicated to this obscure vine used in brewing. Take a Chimposium workshop at the Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute. Or go for a dip in the rejuvenating waters of Soap Lake, popular ever since early settlers and Native Americans savored its healing properties centuries ago. So if you've “been there, done that” one too many times, get off the main road and venture Off the Beaten Path.

I don't like the normal stuff, I like to see things that maybe other people might skip. I love to go places that are overlooked by others and so this book was a wonderful addition to my trip to Washington. It led me on many day excursions for places that I otherwise would have missed. Darling roadside wine tasting rooms that were historic and scenic, out of the way places to eat that sold big foot memorabilia and a Hops Museum to boot! If you like to see and experience things that might not be the 'norm' you'll love this book!

a nice book for a little reference. i live on whidbey island, one of the sites listed in the book. The book is pretty accurate but i did notice a few places to visit as being out of business but they give you fair disclaimers saying "check before you go". cant expect them to know all the closures in this economy.
There arent many pictures or maps and the text is not as sub-divided as other travel books. this reads a bit more like a travellers journal so its worth the price.

It's a good little book. Wasn't too impressed by the "off the beaten path" destinations..... a lot of the sights are real mainstream. But it still was usefull during my recent trip to WA State.
