The maps in this book are very detailed and show all kinds of back roads to access the rivers. The seasonal species/hatch/average flow/recommended tactics charts are also a great feature. You can save a lot of time getting to know the main WA rivers with the purchase of this book.

Most comprehensive guide there is,
This review is from: Washington River Maps & Fishing Guide (Paperback)
I have the northern California, Oregon and California guide books. They cover access points, trailer parks, fishing seasons, knots, flies plus give a brief overview of the river. Aside from a specific river ( not always available) this is the best guide book on the market.

I am very pleased with this book. Unless you want to buy a book that covers every inch of every river, if there is such a thing, this book is well worth the purchase. It provides a lot of information. It covers fish identification, hatches, fish tackle, knot tying, and fishing techniques. This book covers 40 Washington rivers. The information provided is detailed. It provides when the fish are running in each river, rated from slow to peak, for each species. What type of technique you should use to catch the fish is covered. The book provides boat launch info, boating difficulty info, shuttle info, wading difficulty info, and water clarity info. The book also provides services such as Motels, RV parks, Tackle shop, and chamber of commerce. I use this book along with an atlas of Washington and I feel I can make informed decisions about where to go when in Washington. I recommend this book highly.

Excellent River Map Reference,

It shows major drainages with access roads and boat ramps for trip planning. It doesn't show the honey holes but I wasn't expecting that, and rivers can change significantly every year.

A Must Have For Any Fisherman in WA,
This review is from: Washington River Maps & Fishing Guide (Paperback)
I was recommended this book by a fishing buddy. This Fishing Guide is the ticket for fishing all season's in Washington State. Whether you're a Fly Fisher or a Spin Caster this book show you the best spots to hit when to hit them and what to use. I would recommend this Guide to anybody, if you're starting out and needs to know where to fish or if you've been at it for years and need a refresher on some old fav's.

Hello,
If you are looking for a book that shows all the boat ramps on Western Washington streams this book might be for you. But it is not very detailed. I was expecting a book that told me exactly where to fish but this book just offers general areas or just refers to the whole stream as a location. On the plus side it shows how to tie common knots and pictures of common flys but offers very little useful information on WHERE to catch a fish. I would return the book but my friend threw out the box. The dimensions of the book are 13X11 inches. Kinda big to put in a backpack. |
