Maury's Dad Can Write!,
By
This review is from: The Washington Senators (Writing Sports) (Paperback)
As I soon as I saw that the author of this book was Shirley Povich, I had to buy it. After reading the book about Mr. Povich's 70-year career with the "Washington Post," I was dying to read some of his writing.
Well, I wasn't disappointed. This book is an informative history of the Washington Senators up until 1954. All the major figures in the team's history, from Clark Griffith to Walter Johnson to Bucky Harris, are brought to life. A couple of facts related to this book need to be said: 1. Shirley Povich was the father of TV talk show host Maury Povich. 2. The original Washington Senators franchise that is chronicled in this book moved to Minnesota and became the Twins after 1960 season. |
