Poor install. You better be experienced,

We purchsed the Enterprise system. The read me file says "little or no intervention on your part".I discovered that if it is installed on a full SQL server when adding another PC, it wiped out the database. ARRRGGGH. After many hours waiting for technical support. The sytem needs to be on a stand alone PC along with the other daughter PC's. What follows is the "little intervention" I had to use to get it off the ground. 1. Install a SQL Express SQL database. 2. Setup the firewall on host pc to allow SQL services to be used. 3. Install the WASP databse on the SQL server. Using the scripts on the cd or find the SQL enterprise installer ( install MS Net 2.0 first ) 4. Install the Active synch software client. 5. Install the Waspbarcode client. If you are lucky the product will run. I hope this helps someone. I am an experienced IT Manager who has had in my years ( 18 ) of practice, few programs that baffle me. This is so far the most painfull. |
