I am happy with the product. I was extremely happy with the customer service I got from Anaheim Manufacturing,the maker of Waste King ( [...] )when I had a small installation problem.

When installing the "cushion mount" it is extremely important that it be installed in the lowest possible position "the plastic of the "sink flange" should not be visible. Disposer is impossible to attach if wrong, a breeze if it is positioned properly. This is not clear in the instructions.

If used as a replacement disposer, be aware that the plumbing outlet may be at a different height than the original. I was lucky to have the parts available to make the change.

The outlet center on the 1001 model is approx. 6 1/2 inches below the sink bottom.

This disposer has no allen wrench fitting on the bottom to help fix jams, a wooden spoon is recommended.

This disposer was an excellent choice for me. It is less than half the size of my old one so leaves more room under the sink for clutter. Note, however, that it does not hold a lot at one time but with continuous feed that is not a problem unless you have a huge family with a lot of garbage. I like it a lot & would recommend it.

This unit was easy to install for an average homeowner. It took about 1/2 hour to remove the old unit (the hardest part) and install the new. This thing works great and will grind up almost anything. I definitely recommend this disposer to anyone wanting a really high quality, easy to install, and high functioning piece of equipment.

I bought this as a replacement for my 3/4 HP Kenmore and it is a real champ. It has no difficulty with tough food products (banana peels, rinds, etc.) and was a cinch to install. My only complaint is that the rubber flange in the drain opening is a bit stiff, so I have to push light or wide waste into the disposal, which is a little daunting when it's running. But this was a bargain and I'm very happy with it.

I moved in to a new home recently and found that the existing disposer was in need of replacement. Instead of replacing just the disposer, I decided to go ahead and completely replace the entire sink, including the faucet, flanges, and disposer. I decided to purchase most of these items on Amazon due to the excellent prices and free Prime shipping. However, I was troubled by the lack of documentation and details regarding the compatibility of the different parts. I'm writing this review along with a review of the disposer flange I purchased in an effort to fill in these gaps for future purchasers.

For the disposer, I went with the Waste King L-1001 Legend Series 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Operation Waste Disposer; unfortunately, the flange that comes with the disposer has a highly reflective chrome finish which will not be suitable if you want to coordinate with faucet hardware that isn't also chrome. Though there are many custom flanges to choose from, the Waste King will not be compatible with most of them since it utilizes the EZ Mount system for attaching the disposer to the sink. This assembly is not compatible with the majority of the custom finish disposer flanges found on Amazon and in most other stores; most are intended for Insinkerator (ISE) disposers.

There is an adapter kit available (Waste King 3101 ISE Adapter Kit), but I would highly recommend only using this adapter if you are replacing an existing ISE disposer and want to use the hardware already attached to your sink; if you are starting from scratch you would still need to purchace the ISE mounting hardware in addition to the adapter.

I should also note that there are some Waste King branded flanges for sale, but the only ones I found that are compatible with the EZ Mount system have plastic finishes, like white, biscuit, etc. Waste King flanges that offer a metal finish are only for Waste King disposers that use the very different 3-bolt mounting system, which are a bit more expensive than the EZ Mount variety.

If you plan to start from scratch with all new components as I did, using an EZ Mount disposer along with a suitable disposer flange like the Waste Maid Custom Sink Flange/Stopper Set I eventually purchased will simplify your installation and help you avoid headaches and delays caused by ordering incompatible parts. If you insist on a certain brand of disposer flange you will have to get the flange, ISE mounting hardware, and the adapter. This should work, but at a much higher cost than the Waste Maid flange alone.

I won't go into too much detail about the disposer itself; anything I would say has already been posted. It's compact, it's powerful, and it's an excellent value. On top of all that, it's also the quietest disposer I personally have ever used; however, I should note that I've only ever had Badger junk before this and I have it mounted to a very solid and heavy cast iron sink. Your mileage may vary when it comes to noise and vibration if you're using a lighter sink.

Installation was a breeze once I had the correct type of flange. Like some others have mentioned, I would recommend installing an outlet under your sink if you were considering rewiring the disposal with an existing connection. Installing an outlet will be easier than replacing the existing cord and will also simplify future replacements/upgrades. Finally, an outlet and box costs less than one dollar, so it's really a no-brainer.

In conclusion, I would not hesitate to buy a Waste King again, but I'm pretty confident that I won't even have to for a long time. If you need a new disposer, Waste King is the way to go; just make sure you get the right kind of flange if you don't want to use the stock one.

This was my first disposal installation. The online video was much better than written instruction booklet. Check Waste King's website for it. My old disposal was hard-wired. My mistake was trying to remove included cable to hard-wire the new disposal. It was impossible to get the power cable out of rubber stopper after I had dismantled it from unit.. I should have cut the cable and pigtailed it to house power inside a junction box under sink. Instead, I needed to get a strain relief connector to add to unit (parts only cost $3-4, already had plumber's putty). Wiring and plumbing were the most basic possible.
Disposer worked right away. It is quieter than old unit. I would buy this unit again without hesitation especially considering the 5-yr in-home warranty.

Late on Thanksgiving day after having our family including children,grand children & Great Grand Children (15 people in all)
Our garbage disposal gave up.
Later that evening I looked for a new one and found the Waste King L-1001 that had the EZ hookup and all the
other connections that I would need when installing it.
It is much more quite than the one I replaced and has plenty of strenght to do the job. It was shipped very
quickly and arrived before I had time to install it.
I installed it on 12/02/10 in about 1.5 Hours, years ago this would have been a one hour job from start to the
finish of clean up. (I'm in my early 80's)

I was a little nervous about installing this, but the food stuck in the old disposal was smelly and I didn't want to wait any longer for help. The hardest part was getting my old disposal out, but once I had that done- the directions and video on the website were great on walking me step by step through the install. I was able to get it installed in less then an hour and only needed a screw driver and plumbers putty. I'm not the most handy girl around the house, but out of necessity I'm glad to be able to do things on my own...kinda proud of myself =)

I tried to purchase a Waste King garbage disposal from my local hardware & plumbing supply stores and learned that Waste King could only be purchased online. This is my 2nd Waste King disposal and I stand by the product for is durability, quite noise level, and good price. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

I purchased this as a direct replacement for my 20+ year old Insinkerator. I went to the Waste King website to find the best replacement. The hardest part was uninstalling the old disposer. The Waste King model I purchased was capable of being hardwired direct into the house as opposed to the plug that it comes with. A few supplies are needed for the conversion but overall the installation was easy and quick. The model comes with a 2 year in home warranty. I'm very pleased with this purchase and recommend it.
