5.0 out of 5 stars perpetual listening enjoyment
I love Zebrahead! ZH kicks bass! This is the most exciting band currently in existence! This CD is absolute goodness in it's purest most enjoyable form. Despite mad anticipation for their upcoming album (rumored for release in June 2000), "Waste Of Mind" has not fallen from slot #1 in my cd-changer. This album does not get old. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Great Album... unfortunately anything but unique.
I spend most of my money on underground music, but, every once in a while, I like to peek into the "real world" in hopes of finding a CD that I really dig. I really dig Zebrahead. Unfortunately, they're not doing anything new. When I first heard "Get Back" in my college eatery, I thought that glam rock was back. This was a misconception. In fact, the...

Due to its wealth of masterful music, you can listen straight thru over and over without overplaying any one song. A favorite song may arise from time to time, so far my list has been "Get Back," "Swing," "The Real Me," "Waste of Mind," "Move On," "Someday," "Jag Off," "Fly Daze," "Feel This Way," and the current favorite is "Walk Away" although I have been leaning back toward "Move On" as of late. But the point is; they all have the potential of becoming favorite songs. How often does a person come across an album with that kind of mad skill? Essentially, if you are here looking at this review, then chances are you are considering owning a Zebrahead album. Considering should not even be a consideration! If you've got the dough, spend it on something you will love and appreciate for a d*** long time. I've had this CD for almost two years and it is still gets more play than any other album I own. This band has loads of twinkling, sparkling talent and they are going to blow up some day. Not owning this CD would be a tragedy. Do the right thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars It will put a smile on your face, August 26, 2004
This review is from: Waste of Mind (Audio CD)
Unlike many of the tired, cheesy, boring and annoying rap metal acts that have come and gone; Zebrahead stands out from the bunch creating their own signature sound.

It's nearly impossible not to enjoy the songs on this album. It will put you in a good mood if your in a bad one. This wild ride of rock, metal, funk, and hip-hop will excite your ears to the fullest. Every track is great, and the songs play off each other well with plenty of diversity. From the moment "Check" takes off, it turns into a thrilling ride.

Their mix of rap, great lyrics, sweet squealing guitar riffs, crunching metal guitar riffs, funky bass lines, all with full intensity shows that this band has some true talent. Fast songs like "Get Back," "The Real Me," "Someday," and "Bootylicious Vinyl" to sweet chill tunes like "Feel This Way," "Move On," and "Fly Daze" transition so well with each other.

Don't be swayed away from Zebrahead if you think they are just another played-out rap metal band, they are unique in their own way.

5.0 out of 5 stars One line is not enough to describe this album., March 8, 1999

WHOA! I got this CD when it came out and I was blown away. I tried to compare it to other discs in my collection but I just couldn't do it. This CD is one of the most original and stylistic and funky CDs I have in my collection. I eventually described it as a hybrid of Weezer, (hed)p.e., and Incubus. There are so many different influences on just this one disc, it is almost too much to handle. This band will be big some day. They have what it takes, they got it goin' on. Unique sound, style, a great innovative sound. I haven't met one person who hasn't like what they heard, and I am one of them. I love these guys and recommend this CD to anybody who is thinking about buying. I also suggest Dial 7.

This is really sweet cd. I don't like all kinds of music and not much rap and this cd is my favorite. The best mix of rap and punk I've ever heard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original!, February 14, 2000
This review is from: Waste of Mind (Audio CD)
This album is awesome. From the first minute to the last! Zebrahead is one of the most inventive and original bands i have ever heard. They mix hardcore rap w/ beautiful melodies. The really cool part is that the album doesn't have a parental advisory on it, unlike Limp Bizkit, Rage, just to name a few. It has a really positive vibe to it. My favorite songs are GET BACK, THE REAL ME, and FEEL THIS WAY. The rest are great too! Can't wait for their next release. I recommend this album to anyone that wants to try something new. GO BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Fly For White Guys, May 21, 1999

I got this album today and it is probably the funnest experience I ever listened to on a CD. I kind of think it sounds like Offspring, Rage Against The Machine, 311 all together. You got the pop punkish riffs on it like current Offspring, the Carribean vibe like 311, and the in your face rapping style like RATM. It is a great summer album and something you just want to get pumped up to and express yourself. It is also has no depression signs and puts a smile on your face better than a MacDonald's Happy Meal. This band is one I don't understand why MTV didn't make buzzworthy. Oh well, I think they are amazing and I hope all you do too as well by listening to this fun album.

5.0 out of 5 stars ZEBRAHEAD: New Wave for the Future, April 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Waste of Mind (Audio CD)
La Habra, California based Zebrahead have recorded a masterpiece album "Waste of Mind". The sound of Zebrahead is truly unique. While many critics out there are comparing the sound to the likes of 311, Beastie Boys, and Limp Bizkit, I can honestly say that is nothing more than lazy jounalism. No other band can duplicate Zebrahead's sound. To describe the sound distinctively, take a 1980's new wave foundation, build on it with today's sound of Green Day (another fine band), include some very talented rap skills, and throw the whole mix about 10 to 15 years into the future. With this, you get Zebrahead's sound. To further exhaust the possibilities of creativity, Zebrahead includes a fine disco track ("Fly Daze") towards the end of the album. So maybe disco isn't exactly creative anymore, but you have to hand it to them for giving disco a modern, almost futuristic, sound that is definately innovative. While most people are purchasing the "Waste of Mind" album for the radio singles "Get Back" and "The Real Me", this album is most noteworthy for it's heartfelt, mid-tempo "Feel This Way", and it's in-your-face opener "Check". This is the type of album where you never feel the urge to skip ahead to the next track. Every track on "Waste of Mind" is more than satisfying. Not bad for a band that just formed in the summer of 1996. This album should definately be on your priority ist if you are looking for something new, and something good. After saying all this, just wait until you hear them live. Begging for more, you'll want to follow them to every show. Purchasing the "Waste of Mind" album is just the beginning.
