Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Veteran New Orleans keyboard player Willie Tee piloted this incredible band of funkateers who wove jazz and street rhythms into their Meters-styled funk.

These 1970s recordings are legendary in acid jazz circles, and now the abundance of rare riffs and breakbeats within the songs have caught the attention of hip hop fans as well. Packed with previously unreleased material and bonus tracks, this disc will appeal to fans of soul, funk, jazz and hip hop! --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars The GATURS are for REAL, February 28, 2008

Don't listen to the first review... the Gaturs laid the ground work for bands like Galactic.... it's like saying Led Zeppelin's got nothing on Tool... or Dave Brubeck doesn't have a clue compared to Chick Corea, you get the point.

The Gaturs are awesome...if you love funk, then you will love this CD. If you love soul, you will also love this CD. Me? I love funk, not so much the soul... and about half the CD is exquisite funk music while I tend to skip the other half which is soul.

3.0 out of 5 stars a popular new orleans band that should have stayed in New orleans, February 7, 2007
This review is from: Wasted (Audio CD)
I'm fairly certain that the gaturs are popular in New Orleans. However jamming and making a lot of noise falls a bit short of a polished music. There are quite a few bands in this venue that do a lot better. Among them Galactic, New world funk ensemble, the meters etc. There is such a resuurection of music going on currently that music published, previously published, and never published is surfacing. Approximately 70% of it is marginal, and this is one of those cases.
