Editorial Reviews

For The Fallen Dreams have achieved a career milestone with Wasted Youth, an album that chronicles the heartbreak, frustration, anger and despair surrounding broken relationships, hard-fought struggle and the determination to persevere. The Michigan based band has landed firmly at the crossroads between melody and ferocious heaviness with Wasted Youth, produced by Tom Denney, the former guitarist and co-songwriter of the similarly minded A Day To Remember. With a slot on this summer's All Stars Tour alongside Suicide Silence, Unearth, Dance Gavin Dance, The Word Alive, A Skylit Drive and more, along with the new backing of Artery Recordings/Razor & Tie and the band mission statement that is Wasted Youth, it's assured that the future of For The Fallen Dreams is right in front of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wasted Youth July 20, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This album is amazing. I've been following them since the beginning, since Changes came out when Chad was still on vocals, then after Dylan joined I didn't like their sound as much. Now on Wasted Youth I think they are back where they should be. I've been waiting for this album. It seems like new record label new beginning for them. They are still For The Fallen Dreams. I really like where they are headed musically. This album has great meaning. This album is a must for me. After listening to this album they became one of my new favorite bands. The vocals are amazing, Dylan sounds a lot like Mat Bruso ( Bury Your Dead ) I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Also the lyrics are amazing. The vocals are better on this album, than on previous albums. I don't think they could have made a better album than Wasted Youth, that's how amazing this album is. I think they are at the peak of their career. It might also have to do with member changes, who knows. I really hope they continue. I can already say this is one of my favorite albums of the year. The singing parts come in perfect right after Dylan does his thing. This is defiantly a band to watch out for. I also really like the album artwork, and title Wasted Youth it goes perfect for the theme of the album. I will say For The Fallen Dreams and Legend sound a lot alike, it's not a bad thing, because they are brothers. You can tell the two bands apart, especially if you have been listening to them for awhile.

3.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment March 1, 2013
Format:Audio CD
For The Fallen Dreams will undoubtedly be tagged as just another A Day To Remember knockoff by most, but I don't think that's a fair judgment to the band as a whole.

Although I really do believe what I just typed, this album won't help that argument much considering the direction both ADTR and FTFD have been going in. I won't dwell too much on comparing it to their previous albums which I enjoyed the majority of, but this continues their trend of throwing in more and more clean vocals and melodic choruses. I do enjoy that on occasion IF it's done well...but sadly, this album is just not an example of that. Where Back Burner succeeded in finding a decent balance and hitting its stride early, Wasted Years struggled to capture the same feeling. The album as a whole doesn't flow very well, nor does each song individually. The production lacks the hard-hitting sound that should more prevalent in the heavier sections, making the songs sound flat.

For The Fallen Dreams is still a great band and this album isn't awful (as evidenced by my giving it 3 stars), but after their past releases, I know they're capable of much more. I'll be looking forward to their next album, but this one won't be getting as much play time as their past releases until then.
