4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool!
I bought some number of watches over the years and still would like to keep them running without going through the watch shop for battery replacements. This tool does the job great for me and serve the purpose. The price is reasonable and quality is okay for ameture like me. I had 3 watch batteries replaced by myself within half an hour, and it was the first time I used...

The product itself is fine but in the description of it, it clearly showed 4 pictures, one of which was a wooden case the item came in. The fact the item has some small parts with it and came in a case is one of the reasons I choose this particular one. The product itself is fine but in the description of it, it clearly showed 4 pictures, one of which was a wooden case the item came in. The fact the item has some small parts with it and came in a case is one of the reasons I choose this particular one. I raised the issue with the vendor and was advised the item did not come in a case and that a picture of a case was not shown. This is incorrect so I emailed the vendor the site I purchased the item from which clearly showed the case but never heard back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch Case Back opener, September 1, 2008
This review is from: Watch Case Wrench, Adjustable in Paper Box (Misc.)
This product is inexpensive, but is high quality. It works perfectly. Already saved me a bunch, since no one in town will change the battery in my Tag Heuer divers watch, without shipping it off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheaply made for a cheap price but not a bad deal, January 7, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My wrench arrived slightly defective - the long adjusting screw that runs from the main handle is significantly bent. However, the tool still works with a little extra effort and I changed a couple batteries without problems. In addition, while the bits snap and hold in two of the holders, the third holder will not retain it's bit without some paper added to tighten things up. In summary, this tool cost very, very little and it's quality matches it's cost. However, it is entirely usable and I wouldn't have wanted to pay more!

Functionally this watch tool works. If you're looking for a no frills case back opener, this will work. The quality is at the level you would expect from a sub $20.00 tool. It's usable with a little practice and patience.

The included pins fall out as you maneuver them over the case. It's best if you position the watch(es) over the tool once the pins have been aligned.

4.0 out of 5 stars valuable tool, July 20, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This inexpensive product does what it is supposed to do, open wrist watch backs requiring a wrench. it pays for itself in about 3 battery changes. Simple to use without any discussion or detailed information. No longer have to "beg" a jeweler to open a watch case or pass a jewlery store wishing I had brought my watch with the dead battery with me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad tool, April 9, 2011
This review is from: Watch Case Wrench, Adjustable in Paper Box (Misc.)
This Jaxa tool, I think, is similar or the same as mine I bought years ago at my local swap meet. A no brand Jaxa, made in India, that came in a plain white box with the bits in a sealed plastic bag. The Chinese made versions appear to come in more of a presentation box and the tool itself may even look better than India version but IMO it's an inferior tool.

The biggest differential are the bits, India versions have the bits fit the tool with a fair amount of precision while the Chinese versions have a good deal of slack between the bit and the socket of the tool. Appearance wise the India version bits appear to have the proper degree of taper at the end of the bit opposite the head, the end that is inserted into the socket of the tool. Chinese version has a taper that looks more like a cone, a very imprecise fit.

Questionable structural strength of the Chinese version. Jaxa tool body consists of two plates of steel held together by bolts and spacers. I've seen and handled Chinese versions that didn't use steel spacers between the plates, instead nuts were used on the threaded bolt/screws to keep the plates aligned. Chinese version use Phillips head screw/bolts while the norm is slotted.

Overall the India made Jaxa is more like the real Swiss made tool. The India version lacks the precision and the friction at the adjustment handle. Friction is needed at the adjustment handle to help keep the adjustment in place while the tool is in use. Swiss version uses a washer between the body of the tool and adjustment handle. Getting a washer in the same place with the India version is difficult but has been done.

Removing the shaft from the handle is risky because damage to the shaft could result. Using a washer that has the proper size for the shaft will not work unless the shaft is separated from the handle. The shaft has an enlarge area that rides between the two halves of the body to keep the shaft in place. The washer needs to be large enough for the enlarge area of the shaft to fit then the washer is folded on two sides to better fit the shaft. Not an easy thing to do but it works. I used a brass washer common in a plumbing washer kit. Used a Dremel tool to thin and deburr the washer and various pliers to shape the washer. Then applied synthetic grease. Lube is needed because the modification made the handle so tight it would hardly budge.

Now I have a Jaxa tool almost as good as my Swiss version.

3.0 out of 5 stars SHOWN NOT SEEN, August 31, 2008
This review is from: Watch Case Wrench, Adjustable in Paper Box (Misc.)
THE ITEM NOW SHOWN HERE DOES NOT SHOW THE WOODEN CASE AS WAS SHOWN WHEN I SELECTED IT FROM MY VARIOUS CHOICES. ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT IN THE DESCRIPTION, I FOUND THAT TO BE SLIGHTLY MISLEADING. THE PHOTOGRAPH SHOULD REPRESENT THE ACTUAL ITEM OR SHOULD HAVE A DISCLAIMER.

I received this product very quickly. It had excellent packaging and is high quality. I have used it on several different cases already and am very happy with how it looks, feels and how easily the size can be adjusted.

1.0 out of 5 stars SE Watch Case Wrench, November 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Watch Case Wrench, Adjustable in Paper Box (Misc.)
Wrench difficult to use because pegs fall out of wrench when it is turned over to open a Seiko watch case.

Also I did not receive a containment box as shown rather it came in a cardboard box.
