WATCH_DOGS

All it takes is the swipe of a finger. We connect with friends. We buy the latest gadgets and gear. We find out what’s happening in the world. But with that same simple swipe, we cast an increasingly expansive shadow. With each connection, we leave a digital trail that tracks our every move and milestone, our every like and dislike. And it’s not just people. Today, all major cities are networked. Urban infrastructures are monitored and controlled by complex operating systems.

In Watch_Dogs, this system is called the Central Operating System (ctOS) and it controls almost every piece of the city’s technology and holds key information on all of the city’s residents.

You play as Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker and former thug, whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Now on the hunt for those who hurt your family, you'll be able to monitor and hack all who surround you by manipulating everything connected to the city’s network. Access omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control traffic lights and public transportation to stop the enemy, and more.

Use the city of Chicago as your ultimate weapon and exact your own style of revenge.

This is not at all next gen ready game. Seems to be rushed into release. Poor performance even on high end pc. I would advise people to wait a couple more months so that they can fix the issues. Then buy the game at lower price. I would never pay $60 for this half baked product.

First of all, I don't understand why people give a game a 1 star review because it requires Uplay. That has nothing to do with whether or not the game is good. And make no mistake, this game is good.

The world:
In my opinion, this is the single most important aspect to nail down in games like this, and Watch Dogs does a good job. Obviously there will be plenty of comparisons to GTA5. And while Watch Dogs ultimately falls short of GTA5's glory, it's still a darn good game in it's own right. I think I would have been really impressed with the game's rendition of Chicago if GTA5 hadn't set the bar so high already in it's depiction of SoCal. This is easily the 2nd best "world" in games of it's type. Many have complained that it lacks soul, but it actually did begin to grow on me as I progressed through the game. No, it's not over the top and zany like Saints Row or GTA, but it's not a flat, bland world of cookie cutter buildings either, and the underground hacker vibe starts to take on a life of it's own. Additionally, being able to learn information, albeit limited information, about nearly any citizen you see lends it's citizens a certain human aspect that's not apparent in other games. Hacking into people's laptop cameras to spy on their private lives has a guilty pleasure about it, and many of the things you'll witness are funny, tragic, sexy, etc.

Story/Characters:
The story line is pretty decent, but nothing earth shattering.

Okay everybody, it's dissapointing, it doesn't look as good as it should, it doesn't play as good as it should, and the story isn't that good. But the game itself isn't bad, it's just dissapointing. Invisible walls aside, the map and world are expertly crafted, the graphics, while not as good as advertised, are still quite good, and the gameplay is good. The story and characters on the other hand are awful.

So, that's watchdogs, It's nothing special, but it's not bad either. It's biggest problem- it just didn't deliver on the hype.

Is this game worth $60 no...
For starters every ubisoft game that comes out on pc is never optimized, crashes, or ubisoft servers goes down 2 days in a row for atleast an hour. Why i gave this game 3 starts is because i only paid $40 for the nvidia gift bundle code.
Ubisoft needs to start treating their customers better and stop requiring them to download and use Uplay. Steam drm is sufficient. Your games always gets pirated anyways.

I have a pretty powerful rig (i5 4670K, 780Ti, 8GB RAM) and I am using settings suggested by Nvidia experience along with Nvidia's latest 337.88 drivers that came out today. The Game runs horrendously with frames dropping to low teens when I am driving really fast. This is totally unacceptable and this game should have never come out for PC in the shape and form that it is at the moment. I so wanted to play this on release day but the constant stuttering absolutely kills any enjoyment one might get from this game.

I didn't actually buy this game directly off of amazon, however I did buy my beautiful gtx 760 off amazon which came with a code for this game. Every part of this that involved amazon worked perfectly. Everything else was terrible. Getting my code and getting my game downloaded and ready to play were both nightmares. Uplay is a nightmare. Then I wasnt even able to play this game until 3 days after its release date because the Ubisoft servers were crashed. Then when I finally did start playing everything was actually going pretty well, the graphics looked nice, except one thing... My character didnt have a head. It was funny at first in the cut scene, but then his head still didnt show up in gameplay. Even his shadows in gameplay and cutscene didnt include a head. After a few minutes I rage quit, probably wont even finish this game because it is so far terrible and I got it for free thank god. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME.

I have an incredible PC - Core i7-3930K, 32GB Ram, SSD HD's, and DUAL, yes two - nVidia Titan video cards with 6GB/RAM each (12GB Total!) and this game barely works on my machine without dumbing down almost all of the setting. Mouse control is poor, the game has too many scenes where it goes completely white and you can't see anything and worst of all, I shouldn't have to run a game at "Medium" settings and low resolution on this rig... Patches are promised, but I'm not changing my review until after I see real performance.

Cons:

Currency is worthless:
You spend cash to buy parts to craft secondary items, unlock weapons, buy ammo and unlock new cars.
But with your phone you can run passed 5 civilians, hack their bank accounts for $500 to $6000. You get abilities to further increase that so you will regularly steal $13K from a single civilian.

Because of that your character will become unbelievable overpowered VERY early in the game. You should not be able to afford a semi-automatic grenade launcher in your first hour of play. It shouldn't even be available.

Driving is terrible:
Your car is a tank that can absorb a ridiculous amount of punishment. Your tech tree allows to further upgrade the amount of damage it can soak. It also drive like a tank. Poor handling, maneuvering, and just all around bad experience. If you're going to include a GTA style open world experience, you should spent more than 2 months on the driving mechanics.

The Storyline is hilariously bad:
I'm only going to touch on the beginning story that you learn pretty quick. So MINOR SPOILERS.

The story is you were a big shot hacker who was stealing money from people at a hotel. An intrusion was detected and you and your partner were implicated. They sent "fixers" after you (the in game equivalent of hitmen) to scare you, which resulted in the death of your niece.

Aiden Pearce clearly hasn't gotten over her death, but from the interactions with your sister and her son he seems to be the only one. They are trying to move on, while Aiden is obsessed with finding the person who ordered the attack, which makes him look crazy. Uni-bomber crazy rather than Batman crazy.
He is also painfully unaware of his own role in her death.
