WATCH_DOGS

All it takes is the swipe of a finger. We connect with friends. We buy the latest gadgets and gear. We find out what’s happening in the world. But with that same simple swipe, we cast an increasingly expansive shadow. With each connection, we leave a digital trail that tracks our every move and milestone, our every like and dislike. And it’s not just people. Today, all major cities are networked. Urban infrastructures are monitored and controlled by complex operating systems.

In Watch_Dogs, this system is called the Central Operating System (ctOS) and it controls almost every piece of the city’s technology and holds key information on all of the city’s residents.

You play as Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker and former thug, whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Now on the hunt for those who hurt your family, you'll be able to monitor and hack all who surround you by manipulating everything connected to the city’s network. Access omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control traffic lights and public transportation to stop the enemy, and more.

Use the city of Chicago as your ultimate weapon and exact your own style of revenge.

Seamless Multiplayer Experience

Discover a new level of interaction, cooperation and confrontation between players thanks to a brand new multiplayer game system that links the single and multiplayer modes into one seamless experience. That means no menus, no loading screens, just instant open world multiplayer action.

I'm just an average gamer that has a passion for gaming. I like reviewing games because I'm not a fan boy and don't get paid to favor one thing over another. I did not follow Watch Dogs over the years as it was being developed. I actually did not really look into the game until about 2 months ago. I kept hearing about the game but had no idea what it was about. Since I wasn't really playing other console games the past couple of months I decided to pre-order the game since it was an Ubisoft title and always loved Ubisoft games. So I will go over the pros and cons of the game.

Cons:
- Same feeling as other open world games. This could be good for other people but after playing the GTA games and Assasin's Creed games, you don't get that full excitement of open world like you did with GTA 3 and AC1 and 2.

- Repetition. I ended up playing the game most of the night but it's pretty repetitive when you are doing side missions. You hack someone, track them down, then knock them out or kill them.

- You can only have one save. So far Ubisoft only allows you to have one save and its tied into your Xbox live account. If you want to start a new game you have to use a different account. I haven't looked at all the achievements but this does not give you a chance to play a good guy and then a bad guy or vice versa.

- Online play. They say its optional and it is...but if you want to turn it off you lose all your notoriety (points that rank you against other players).

Pros:
- Unique story line. People are comparing this game too much to GTA 5. Well you shouldn't because the story line holds up on it's own. Some people say it started off slow but I feel the main story line started off with a bang.

-Detail.

3.0 out of 5 stars Way over hyped May 28, 2014
Platform for Display:Xbox One|Edition:Standard
If you're expecting "something like GTA but with hacking", then think again. The hacking is brainless and just requires one button and zero thought. The cars handle terribly and there's not actually any "normal" combat, which was the thing that surprised me the most.

Sure you can shoot, but doing so just highlights you as a criminal, you can't punch, kick or even jump in the game. It all feels very scripted. Sure the world is "open" but what happens in it is all very similar. The game is still decent, but if you're hoping for "game of the year", I highly doubt it... It's not overly engaging for big time gamers...

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed the story, could use a few changes. June 14, 2014

Brief - game is a good open world entry, some fun side missions/games, and good story, but missing some features that would make it much better.

The Good:
-City/World details are gorgeous. Great attention to detail, interactive objects, ability to get almost anywhere, and great recreation of Chicago.
-Great selection of fake cars (most are modeled after real cars and easily identified) which range from small and slow cars to large and powerful. Motorcycles and trucks are included.
-Story has a good pace and interesting plot turns and twists. Nothing earth shattering, but it's a good story from start to finish.
-Hacking side of game gives some interesting opportunities to Watch Dogs that other open world games lack.
-Almost every mission gives you the option to go with stealth or go in guns blazing. I like the option instead of being forced into one or the other. Tip: For those looking to breeze through the game, you can beat most missions guns blazing much faster than stealth.

The Bad:
-Missions early on force you to get a taste of online hacking. Whether you suceed or not makes no difference, but for people who have no interest in it, c'est la vie. I am not sure what would happen if you are playing offline. You have the option to set your game so the online hacking option is off, and people will not be able to intrude. I left it on and I only had 2-3 incidents where people hacked my game while I was away from the game. In the end, you don't lose anything except a little online experience.
-My biggest gripe: No jump (you can vault and climb), no melee (you can take down people, but you can't just hit a random person).
-Side missions are fun, but can be very repetitive.
-Aiden's voice (main character) is laughably bad...

4.0 out of 5 stars People need to back off this one June 14, 2014
Platform for Display:Xbox One|Edition:Standard
Yes, this game was heavily over-hyped, but that shouldn't be a BAD thing. Yes, the game is similar to GTA, which again should not be a bad thing. This game was exactly what I was expecting if you looked into this title anytime before release everyone says the same thing GTA with hacking, which is true. But this title seperates it self from GTA in a few distinct ways.

1. You will be punished for running around like a serial killer and killing civilians.

2. The police will get called BUT you can prevent that from happening by taking their phone or using the hack "jam coms"

3. No shooting out of your car which I do dislike but I fully understand the reasoning.

Now a few things that are bad.

1. The story is a bit lackluster, they try too hard to surprise and that's a downfall of this campaign.

2. You can't hack a friend online which aggravates me beyond belief because they did advert like you could *Note: if someone figures out how to do this other than free mode please let me know.

I know this isn't the best review but this game does have a lot to offer and I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys open world games
