When the bought this cd, i expected a carbon copy of alexisonfire first record after hearing 'Accidents'. But this is totally different from the self titled debut. As you probably have read, or heard, alexisonfire sing on this album. A whole lot of singing. Very good vocals, and at times you just wonder if this is the same band. Also, its obvious they have taken critics advise and cut down the long intros, which i honestly didnt mind. But this album doesnt have many long intros compared to the selftitled.I would defiently recommended this for fans of Emery, because at times they sound a lot like the mellow side of Emery. This album is brutal, melodic, and beautiful all at the same time. I would rate this one the best of 2004 alongside the Emery record. Overall, a very good album, and the recording sounds 1000x better then the self titled. Alexisonfire have moved to a different direction with this. Hardcore fans might miss all the screaming though.

The best thing out of Canada since....,
By s.a. huxley (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews

I don't see how anybody with half a brain can label this great band to be "sellouts." They have such a different sound that is all their own, with impressive guitar solos, interesting lyrics, and interchangeable vocals, which oscillate between George (the screamer in the songs) and Dallas (the guy who actually sings--and has a good set of pipes on him too).
My first love will always remain ".44 Caliber Love Letter"--the opening guitar riffs blew me away, what other band does that, it ran 2 minutes before vox set in (well, besides Isis...). But "Watch Out!" has gems of its own. Actually, they are all excellent and are definitely worth repeats. This band deserves more attention than perhaps others that are gaining hype over tired and used methods... Unwritten Law... plus, let us not forget Alexisonfire is Ontario's internationally-issued apology for the mishappenstance that was Avril Lavigne.

First of all, do NOT go into this album expecting anything similar to what alexisonfire have done before. This album represents a huge musical growth for them. There is quite a bit more clean vocal use than there was in previous efforts. The song structure is less generic as well. However, this is a good thing. The clean vocals are VERY good. There is still plenty of screaming to satisfy your urge for that component of alexisonfire, though. This album is very deep and feels quite honest. This is a big step forward for this band in the quest to seperate themselves from the recent plethora of bands attempting to create a combination emo/hardcore sound. Definitely an album to pick up.

A Whole New Sound But Still The Same Band,
By A Customer

"Watch Out" - Alexisonfire's sophomore album proves how underrated these canadian natives are.. Dallas Green lends much more vocals to this amazing demonstration which is an extremely strong point because of his unbelievable voice. Don't worry; for all you hardcore fans because George still lends his ear-piercing screams for songs like "That Girl Possessed" or "White Devil". My personal favorites include: These are my favorite because you can hear the strengths of each vocalist which balance each other out perfectly. "No Transitory" includes some of the best vocals I have ever heard. If you love their debut - don't expect the same kind of album because they experimented technically and vocally but WATCH OUT - it is awesome and certainly rocks like hell!

Something is missing,
By William "William" (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) - See all my reviews

I admit this is a great album but there really is something missing on this CD. I feel like every song is too short and doesn't rock enough. It's like, "ok good chorus but the rest doesn't live into your head". One great thing about the album, which makes it deserve a 4 stars, is the great voice (so improuved) of the clean singer. You can tell the production of this record was much better than the first one but the guitar riffs are not as powerful as in the first. I listen to this album when i feel like listening to soft music... that sounds weird considering their first album was kinda heavy. To conclude that review I would say if you expect to buy this album thinking of the old alexisonfire stuff then you should borrow it from a friend and listen to it atleast once before you buy it because it really is kindof a new band. my rating: 4/5 great voice but doesn't rock enough.

Masterpiece, or Disterpiece,
By Chris "Bobby Bob" (Canada) - See all my reviews

To start off.. I just love how people who don't exactly know their facts are writing reviews... mind you, i'm not exactly an ecocopidea regarding AOF and anything to do with them... but at least i try to get my facts straight...
Alexis is a band formed from my hometown (St.Catharines Ontario, CANADA) and to tell you the honest truth i'm personally not to fond of the genre that Alexis is labeled under... but to support the local talant, i gave them a chance... their debute is much more raw, uncut, and more unigue... I guess you could say, their follow up is heading them to the mainstream (sadly enough)... "Watch out" is much more clean, melodic, and more easy on the ears... Listening to their first album, then listening to this... its almost like an all new band, but of course it still has that AOF flare... Dallas does ALOT more singing on this cd (which isn't a bad thing at all, i bet dallas on this cd has widened their fan base) and as for Georges screaming, its much more polished and easier to listen too... Now depending on who you are, and what type of music you perfer... "Watch out" can be a masterpiece, or a distasterpiece... Now if your a type of person that likes radio friendly, melodic, easy on the ears, sing along kind of music, with bursts of occasional rawness (if thats a word) that you can head bang to, then "Watch out" is indeed the cd for you... BUT... if your one of those indipendent band lovers, who likes it raw, and hates when bands go mainstream, or step into the lights of stardom... then this isn't exactly the cd for you.. but don't get me wrong... Alexis has something for both types of people... Their self titled is more raw, Watch out is more polished... Now don't get me wrong, I'm not an expert... so people may disagree with the majority, if not all of what i said... but that is only my opinion...

I must admit, I was pretty excited when I bought AOF's second album. My first experience with them was full of awesome guitar riffs and amazing lyrics. And as I listened to Watch Out I found my love for AOF being renewed, I love how they toned down the screaming, I found it almost too intense in the last album, the way they used Wades singing and Georges screaming together instead of one backing up the other was genius. This is by far one of the best screamo albums I've come accross in a long time. It has so much diversity, from white devil which has definate punk in it to sharks and danger (one of my favorite songs of all time) which is slower and intensly deep. Take my advice and pick this album up ASAP its amazing and you will not be dissapointed.
Also, if you get a chance to see these guys live, take it, if you think their good on the album, you're in for a shocker when you see how tight and awesome their act is on stage! best tracks: sharks and danger, control, happiness by the kilowatt, no transitory

CDNow offers previews for a reason, so people can her the stuff before they buy a CD. If people were smart enough to preview this stuff they would know the amount of screaming and emotion in the songs. Instead they buy it and complain about the money that they just wasted. This CD is Amazing, pure and simple. If it screaming you like buy it. The lyrics will rip you apart. I saw these guys down at warped tour and holy crap some of the best stuff, there is so much energy. Usually I'm not much of a fan for a lot of screaming. But the guitar work alone makes up for it. The guitar is just mind blowing to me, I love how technical it gets. But I warn you, if you don't like more screaming then singing don't buy it. This isn't always for everyone, especially people who don't like to keep open minds about music. Screaming isn't all that bad. I find it even more emotional than screaming, if you ever catch some of these lyrics you will understand. Definitely check them out though.
